Our research focus is discovery of probiotics, postbiotics, prebiotics, enzyme and biological solutions driven by our state-of-the-art research using a systems biology approach that includes an understanding of immunological influences. The position is in Gut Immunology Lab which is the home to an enthusiastic, diverse and international group of researchers in the field of gut microbiology, immunology and its industrial applications. The research focuses primarily on immunopathologic mechanisms, novel health solutions and the translation of basic science findings to solve health issues. To support us in this effort we are currently looking for an experienced Immunologist to strengthen the competency in our global Animal Health R&D organization.
 

Please note that the position is located onsite in our state-of-the-art innovation facility in Brabrand, Denmark.

Key Accountabilities:

The selected candidate will:

•    Be an integral part of a diverse global team of scientists who together will charter an R&D Immunology strategy to support and strengthen our research portfolio encompassing animal probiotics, postbiotics, prebiotics, pet food and enzyme products.
•    Work with collaborative teams in an industrial R&D environment that values creativity and ingenuity.
•    Help to strengthen a research platform enabled by state-of-the-art technologies and a diverse knowledge base to investigate host-microbe interaction.
•    Bring mechanistic understanding of microbial impacts on immune parameters in health and disease and help develop products that foster homeostasis and symbiosis.
•    Perform and execute in vitro and in vivo studies in support of early stage product discovery. 
•    Independently establish and manage internal and external collaborations with respect to professional and cultural differences to advance project goals. This will include working with CROs and academic collaborators.
•    Perform as an entrepreneur with a creative mind and the dedication needed for aiming at scientific excellence.
•    Integrate immunological expertise into global R&D efforts toward development of novel products and support business objectives within the Health and Bioscience unit. 
•    Develop and implement experimental strategies supporting business goals and discovery efforts.
•    Evaluate and integrate new technologies into our research strategies.
•    Coordinate pre-clinical studies with appropriate animal models.
•    Propose and manage external partners in the area of immune-mediated inflammatory diseases. and pre-clinical biomarkers.
•    Provide immunology expertise in the analysis and interpretation of results to integrate with nonclinical and clinical studies.
•    Review data and analytical results, prepare reports and visuals and communicate them to internal and external users, including customers.
•    Manage multiple work streams and integrate results from a wide breadth of immune assays.
 

•    Ph.D. in Immunology with at least 3-year (Master, plus 10 years) research experience, preferably in industry. 
•    Scientific knowledge and experience in mucosal immunity with a strong publication record and /or patents as a must.
•    Solid understanding of immunological dysfunction in at least one of the below domains: infection and immunity, immune regulation, autoimmunity, atopy or aging.
•    Demonstrated experience in in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo MOA studies and translational research. Working knowledge of state-of-the-art technologies. Hands-on experience in cell culture, animal models, tissue processing, flow cytometry, PCR and other common immunology assays and techniques.
•    Passion at bench. Demonstrated project management skills, with attention to detail. Capable of working under pressure.
•    Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills on all hierarchy levels. 
•    Good writing and presentation skills. Ability to engage an audience.
