Head of Technology

This is a pre-seed stage AI Fintech startup. We are looking for a Head of Technology for our applications.

In practical terms, right now, this means serving as a Principal Engineer/Senior software Engineer and team leader for a team of developers. This is not a request for advicers or consultants.

You will have co-founder status and an equity stake. Funding cycle expected initiated ultimo May 2024. You can be part-time until we are funded and can take out salaries. However, you must available on a day-to-day basis and willing to work minimum 15-20 hours a week. This is an absolute requirement.

Factorise is creating an Investment Ecosystem with multiple products. We're on a mission to democratize investment knowledge and action through our ecosystem, consisting of an AI-powered chatbot, a comprehensive learning platform, and an interactive community for investors. Our goal is to simplify the stock market, making it accessible and engaging. We democratize access to investment knowledge and tools, making it easier for more people to navigate the stock market confidently.

Equity percentage will be negotiated. A split that motivates co-founder and team is the goal. Depends on team configuration. The contract will apply a typical 1 Year Cliff and 4 Year Vesting.

The Role

As the Head of Technology with a Senior Principal Engineer mindset, you'll contribute to our technological vision and execution with a practical, operational approach. Your role will encompass leading our technology strategy, driving innovation in AI and data processing, and ensuring the scalability and security of our platforms. You will play a critical role in developing our core technologies, across the three product groups. This involve Large Language Models (LLMs) connectivity, data acquisition, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems, APIs, processing strategies, back-end and front-end alignment etc. Work with CEO on cost structure and restraints at both MVP level and eventually scaling the user base.

Responsibilities

Define and execute a comprehensive technology strategy that aligns with our business objectives, focusing on innovation in AI-driven solutions and data acquisition to enhance our investment ecosystem.

Lead the architecture and development of advanced technologies, including LLMs, RAG systems, vector databases, and efficient API management, to power our chatbot/AI product and personalized learning experiences.

Responsible for the data ingestion and processing infrastructure, ensuring robustness, scalability, and security while managing large, dynamic datasets for real-time analysis and insights.

Calculations on costs and potentials for integration of GPU computing and cloud technologies to optimize the performance and cost efficiency of our machine learning models and data processing tasks.

Collaborate with product management, UX/UI design team to ensure technological advancements translate into user-centric product enhancements.

Foster a culture of technical excellence and innovation, mentoring our developers and guiding them in the implementation of best practices and cutting-edge technologies.

Manage technology budgets and resources, making strategic decisions on investments in hardware, software, and talent development to support our growth.

Qualifications

Leadership experience in a technology-driven role, ideally within the fintech or investment sectors, with a emphasis on AI/ML technologies and data strategies.

Hands-on experience in developing and deploying Large Language Models, Retrieval-Augmented Generation systems, and managing complex data ecosystems.

Expertise in vector database technologies, GPU computing for ML, and cloud infrastructure management across platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure.

Deep understanding of API architecture, microservices, and effective data acquisition and processing methodologies.

Exceptional problem-solving skills, incl. leveraging technology to solve complex business challenges.

Good communication and team lead skills

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or demonstrated self-taught ability.
