PhD scholarship in Raman Spectroscopy and Multi-Modal Machine Learning Models

Kongens Lyngby, Denmark Danmarks Tekniske Universitet Full time

If you are ready to begin your research career with a strong foundation in machine learning, and you are interested in developing spectral and multi-model data models within stem cell data science, this is your chance.

In this collaboration, DTU, KU and the private company Bioneer are aiming to develop models and methods, with applications to stem cells for cell-based therapies. We will research novel means for capturing and analyzing data within stem cell differentiation and integrating Raman spectroscopy data with other sources like sequencing data to optimize manufacturing and discovery processes.

We envision analyzing individual stem cells using microfluidics and Raman microscopy.

As our new colleague you will be part of a diverse and multi-disciplinary team, which is engaged in machine learning and has a drive to make novel discoveries for the benefit of human health.

The university itself is in the greater Copenhagen area, which is acknowledged for its excellent standards of living, childcare and welfare system.

Responsibilities
Your overall focus will be to develop novel machine learning models in our project, in close collaboration with our team. You will:

Develop ML methods to analyze Raman spectroscopy data capturing stem cell differentiation.  Apply ML methods to discover relationships between spectroscopic response and key endpoints. Establish associations between spectroscopy responses and sequencing data. Set-up Raman spectroscopy in stem cell differentiation pipeline and contribute to data collection. Dissemination of high-quality models and data to an interdisciplinary team. Publish scientific papers.

Required qualifications
We are looking for a profile with the motivation and drive needed for making novel discoveries in a multi-disciplinary team. We look for:

Creativity and openness to innovation  Enthusiasm and excellent collaboration skills Passion for computational modelling of life science data Strong oral and written skills in English Prior experience with one or more of chemometrics, physics, machine learning, or related areas.

You must have a two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master's degree.

Approval and Enrolment
The scholarship for the PhD degree is subject to academic approval, and the candidate will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes at DTU. For information about our enrolment requirements and the general planning of the PhD study programme, please see DTU's rules for the PhD education .
