Then join us and have a positive impact on food and energy systems in Danfoss’ Digital Services team As such we're looking for a senior Data Scientist to join our growing Center of Excellence for IoT Cloud solutions.

Job Responsibilities

Danfoss Digital Services is looking for a (Senior) Data Scientist to join our new District Heating Utility (DHU) project team. The goal is to build a next-generation platform for end-to-end optimization in district heating networks, including network simulation tools, production optimization solutions, and connections to demand-side response approaches. The position is located in our brand-new office in Kolding or Copenhagen, but we are open to flexible work arrangements as well. We offer you the chance to apply your mathematical and programming skills to build a next-generation solution for end-to-end optimization in district heating networks.

 

You will join a strong and committed development team with colleagues in several locations within Europe, but your main development team will mainly consist of developers in Denmark. Besides your daily development team, you will have a strong link to our global data scientist guild, where you will meet fellow data scientists who will be able to support you on project-related tasks, and where you will be updated on the latest new innovations within Digital service.

 

Some of the key activities will include:

  • Work on thermo-hydraulic simulation tools for district heating networks by applying physical modeling principles augmented with machine learning and data-based models.
  • Implement production optimization solutions using Mixed-Integer Linear Programming (MILP) techniques.
  • Work on building and developing our data pipelines via various data engineering technologies.
  • Work on cutting edge projects related to district heating, such as demand side response and end-to-end optimization that connects the whole chain from heat producers to consumers.
Background & Skills

WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU, if you are an experienced data scientist who know how to solve complex problems with applying data modeling. You have experience in working in a development team in a modern software development environment.

On top of that, you should be able to checkmark some of the points listed below:

  • Hold a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field (mathematics, machine learning, statistics, physics, etc.)

  • PhD degree is a benefit, but not a strict requirement

  • Previous experience of Python as this is used as our main programming tool  

  • Knowledge with C# and C++ is appreciated as our legacy solutions are build with those

  • Knowledge about district energy and thermo-hydraulic

  • Like to apply and learn about advanced methodology in the district heating field

  • Like to blend physical models of heating systems with a data

  • Love to see your code quickly in action in optimizing large district heating networks

  • Fluent in English

  • A team player who wants to be a part of a committed development team

  • Like to provide guidance and support to junior team members
