For the offshore activities of FLC Marine, we are looking for a skilled and dedicated Barge Operator to operate winches & auxiliary equipment for connecting and lowering the tunnel elements with our Immersion pontoons during operations in the Femern Belt, between Denmark and Germany.

The Barge Operator serves as a crucial support role to the Barge Master and is responsible for taking over in case of emergencies. This position involves operating various equipment, ensuring safety protocols, and supporting deck operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, the ability to work within team, and demonstrate flexibility and responsibility in decision-making.

Who is FLC?

Femern Link Contractors, FLC, is the joint venture responsible for the design and construction of the Northern Europe's biggest construction project resulting in the longest immersed tunnel in the world. Our joint venture consists of nine international construction companies with individual experience in large infrastructure projects. Together, we are committed to working together to deliver a state-of-the-art immersed tunnel, portals, and ramps, delivered on time and safely, in a sustainable and ethical manner.

Main responsibilities (but not limited to):

Act as a backup for the Barge Master, capable of replacing them in emergency situations.
Operate winches from the control room.
Manage the hoisting frames from both the control room and the roof of the TE.
Operate various davits as required.
Collaborate with the Barge Master to run ballast operations.
Oversee fire and safety equipment, ensuring all equipment is regularly checked and serviced.
Provide support on deck as needed.
Utilize Sertica software for maintenance and recording; demonstrate proficient IT skills.
Conduct daily safety checks and briefings.
Handle work permits and risk assessments.
Assist in leading the deck crew and provide support as required.
Participate in the navigational watch when necessary.
Understand and execute Marine Warranty Surveyor (MWS) instructions for the job.
Work effectively within an international team, exhibiting flexibility and strong decision-making skills.

Qualifications / Experience:
3 years of marine experience as Chief Officer in the maritime or offshore (drilling, heavy lift vessels).
Possesses good conflict resolution skills, interpersonal skills, communication skills, excellent teambuilding and organizational skills and diplomatically handles confrontation.
Familiar with computer-based maintenance programs for offshore units.
Completion of all mandatory training and certification requirements by position.
Preferable previous experience with complex lifting, construction crane operations and lifting plans.
Extensive experience from mooring operations various scales.
