Mechanical Engineering Team Lead

THE ROLE
At Hyme, we're looking for a team leader for our Mechanical Engineering team, who will thrive in a challenging role where overview, proactivity and adaptability to shifting priorities is needed. As the Team Lead of Mechanical Engineering at Hyme, you will play a key role in developing our energy storage solutions which are based on molten hydroxide salts. The position is in our Engineering Team, but you will naturally interact closely with our entire organisation and with external stakeholders.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Project Management: Lead team in developing thermal energy storage system across design, prototyping and demonstration projects.
  • Team Development: Guide and develop a growing team of engineers in a startup environment while ensuring high competence and performance standards among colleagues.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with the business development and leadership team to define product requirements and development plans for Hyme energy storage solution, as well as presenting the new product in the market.
  • Technical Problem Solving: Resolve complex engineering issues.
  • Relationship Building: Foster trust, communication, creative thinking and team cohesion.
  • Well-being Advocacy: Promote work-life balance.

PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES

  • Educational foundation: Degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Proven experience: 5+ years managing engineering teams, 10+ years in technical roles.
  • Experience in designing complex systems in harsh environments.
  • Track record of successful leadership and project delivery.
  • Background in manufacturing or process industries preferred.
