Senior Project Manager

BIG Los Angeles is seeking a Project Manager with 10+ years of experience, preferably within high-end single family residential projects, to join our studio in Santa Monica and help guide our teams through all phases of design and documentation. As a Project Manager at BIG, you will oversee a project's health and progress, coordinate consultants, clients, and internal architectural teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Project Team
  • Maintain primary communication with client
  • Coordinate architectural design and building systems with engineering consultants
  • Produce and develop technical drawings and details with minimum supervision
  • Organize drawing sets and oversee team in completing all submissions
  • Perform filing, code, and zoning analyses for multiple municipalities and related zoning ordinances
  • Survey and document existing conditions in the field
  • Communicate and coordinate with external and internal team members
  • Research construction materials and systems
  • Responsibility over project budget, staffing, and scheduling
  • Experience working with a project team and consultants in schematic design through construction administration

Requirements:

  • Experience with Los Angeles legislation and building code
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Architecture, licensure in California
  • Minimum 10 years of post-bachelor's degree Architecture firm experience
  • Experience in design and detailing projects through construction documentation
  • Significant experience in high-end Single Family Residential projects
  • Strong understanding of L.A. County zoning, ordinances, and code
  • Solid knowledge of products, materials, and construction methods in California
  • Proficiency in 3d modeling software strongly preferred (Sketchup, Rhino)
  • Experience in guiding the production team through project timeline
  • Experience interacting with clients and organizing projects
  • An ability to work closely with Partner-in-Charge and production team from schematic design through construction documentation
  • Exceptional level of attention to detail and a mastery of organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage client/consultant communication
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines and deliver
  • Ability to mentor junior staff
  • Report directly to Partner-in-Charge with routine scheduling updates and planning, design coordination, etc.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Independent with the ability to work in a team environment
  • Desire to constantly self-educate and be hands-on
  • Ability to bring creative solutions to our design work
  • Strong organizational skills
