Test Automation Engineer, Grid Measurement Systems (Wind Energy)

We are looking for an experienced Test Automation Engineer to validate and qualify grid measurement systems used in wind park control applications, within a development organisation in the wind energy industry.

The role is Python-centred. The laboratory test environment is built in Python, and you will develop, maintain and run automated test campaigns on measurement hardware. You will test and evaluate grid measurement devices, with a primary focus on Elspec G4K/G4N meters, assessing measurement accuracy and communication performance under varying operating conditions. You will work closely with engineering, cybersecurity, SCADA and supplier teams, and your results will directly support supplier evaluations and the integration of measurement technologies in wind power plant control solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain Python-based test setups and automated test campaigns, including integration with Omicron signal generators, measurement equipment, data acquisition systems and CI/CD testing frameworks
  • Validate and evaluate grid measurement devices used in wind park control systems, supporting supplier qualification and technology assessments
  • Troubleshoot measurement hardware, communication interfaces and laboratory test setups to identify, analyse and resolve performance issues
  • Analyse measurement data from devices, SCADA systems and SQL databases, and turn results into clear technical insights, reports, visualisations and recommendations
  • Verify secure communication and cybersecurity requirements, including Modbus/TLS and Syslog/TLS, certificate-based authentication, secure onboarding, logging and telemetry, and compliance with IEC 62443 and the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA)

Requirements (must have)

  • Strong proficiency in Python for test automation, including building and maintaining test setups, controlling measurement hardware and analysing data
  • Experience with CI/CD practices
  • Structured troubleshooting and root cause analysis experience across hardware, communication interfaces and test setups
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or a related technical discipline, combined with relevant professional engineering experience
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols, cybersecurity principles and secure system integration
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams

Nice to have

  • Experience with grid meters, power quality analysers or other grid measurement devices
  • Experience from the wind or renewable energy industry
  • Experience with electrical measurement systems, power systems or data acquisition equipment
  • MATLAB
  • C# and/or C++
  • Experience with Omicron signal generators and laboratory test equipment
  • Experience with SCADA systems and SQL databases
