  • Computational aspects such as data, simulation, and models
  • Digital technologies and resources, such as AI in the context of education
  • Educational design and development, including action research and collaborative development of teaching practices

A good approximation of the area of interest is the scope of journals and conferences such as TOCE, CSE, ICER, ITiCSE, Koli Calling, ICTMA, EDUCON, and SIGCSE TS.

The ideal candidate should document:

  • Competences and experience in developing and conducting research-based teaching at university level informed by educational research; in particular, in the fields of computer science, data science, mathematics, and statistics
  • Competences in conducting high-quality academic research, reflected in demonstratable outputs of peer-reviewed publications in internationally recognized journals, conferences, and other venues.
  • Contributions to the strategies and educational goals of the institutions in which the candidate has worked, such as study programme development, educational development and innovation, research environments, and broader institutional initiatives.
  • Contributions to the research community, for example participation in committees, etc.
  • Experience in engaging and collaborating with industry partners, public sector, etc.
  • Good cooperation skills and ability to work in a team.

Candidates for the position of associate professor should be able to:

  • Attract external research funding
  • Supervise PhD students
  • Communicate proficiently in written and spoken Danish, Swedish, or Norwegian.

The language requirement reflects the position's close engagement with the Danish education sector, including collaboration with schools, educators and educational institutions, dialogue with politicians and policymakers, and dissemination to Danish-speaking stakeholders.

Job description

The candidate is expected to perform research activities in collaboration with fellow faculty members in the research center, and to develop collaborations within and beyond other environments at the IT University when relevant.

The candidate should contribute to advancing research at the intersection of education, computing, computing-related disciplines, and digital technologies. Engaging in theoretical and methodologically grounded education research, including research concerned with students' knowledge, practices, and reasoning, digital technologies and resources, educational design, and the development and use of well-developed theoretical frameworks.

The candidate is expected to contribute to the IT University's education by giving courses, by supervising student projects both at undergraduate and graduate level, and by engaging in the development of courses and study programs.

Furthermore, the candidate is expected to engage with society through external collaboration and dissemination, including dialogues with policy makers and key stakeholders, to participate in securing external funding, and to contribute to the IT University's strategic goals.
