Vestas Power Solutions (VPS) is where new product ideas are developed, matured, improved, and tested. Within Vestas Power Solutions (VPS), you'll find our department, Backup Systems, as part of Control Hardware.
The Control Hardware team ensures the effective functioning and coordination of the turbines' Low-Voltage systems and control systems. Our primary focus lies in designing complete electrical power backup solutions, including specifying electrical panels and backup functions.

Responsibilities
As Lead Engineer - Electrical Backup System, your primary role is to manage and provide innovative solutions for the backup system. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Deliver high-quality design solutions within specified timeframes and budgets, while continuously enhancing efficiency.
  • Define test & validation needed to qualify a design.
  • Create designs in compliance with Vestas' stage gate model, encompassing all phases from early concept development to detailed design, verification, and implementation in labs and wind turbines.
  • Work closely with global R&D teams and external suppliers to ensure cohesive project development.
  • Provide support to Service Technicians, assisting with troubleshooting and repairs via phone, ticketing system, or on-site visits.
  • Evaluate performance problems, perform root cause analysis, and offer recommendations to the Service organization.
  • Identify, develop, and validate technical improvement measures as part of the continuous improvement process.
  • Respond to technical inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in customer or supplier meetings and attend industry seminars to stay updated with the latest trends and technologies.

Minimum Requirements
Your qualifications should include:

  • Bachelors or master's in electrical engineering, marine engineering or similar.
  • Proficient in low voltage electrical design.
  • Experience in designing electrical backup systems.
  • Good understanding of low voltage components and system testing.
  • Familiarity with IEC and UL standards.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Valid driving license from Denmark or Europe.
