Assistant Professor in Power Engineering
Job Description
We are seeking an innovative and visionary Assistant Professor in the field of Power Engineering with a strong interest in industrial applications and cooperation for the campus in Sønderborg.

The Centre for Industrial Electronics has approximately 30 faculty members including senior (full and associate professors), junior (assistant professors and Post Docs), PhDs, and support staff. The position involves research, professional development, research education, teaching, including exams, supervision, and assessment work. A candidate will be expected to teach and supervise PhD students and undergraduate students, as well as maintain and develop national and international contacts and secure appropriate research funding. On this basis, we strive for unique and excellent value in research, innovation, and education.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct research in the field of electrical engineering with a focus on control of microgrids.
- Plan, execute, and document projects with industrial partners.
- Publish and present research outputs at international conferences and in scientific journals with high impact.
- Establish and run industrial collaborations with leading actors in the field.
- Teach in the field of electrical engineering.
- Supervise PhD, Master, and Bachelor students.
Profile and Requirements:
- You have a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or related fields.
- You have published in high-impact conferences and journals in the field.
- You are interested in a longer-term commitment to a growing research group and are willing to work in close cooperation with industry.
- You are fluent in English, both spoken and written.
- A track record in participating in national and/or European research projects is a plus.
- You are a team player and have strong communication skills.
- You have experience in one or more of the following fields:
- Power management of microgrids.
- Advanced control methods for AC, DC, and hybrid AC/DC microgrids.
- Decentralized, centralized, and hierarchical control methods.
- Simulation of converter-dominant systems in MATLAB, PSIM, and PLECS.
- Voltage balancing circuits of supercapacitors.
Please note: the Lecturer Training Programme (an individually planned in-service teacher training programme for university teachers) is mandatory for newly appointed assistant professors at SDU. If an applicant completed a course similar to the Lecturer Training Programme, it is possible to apply for an exemption from the programme.

Appointment as assistant professor is temporary and for an initial 3-year period. The preferred starting date is from June 1, 2025, and will be agreed upon with the successful candidate.
The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Further information on salary and taxation is available.
Employment as assistant professor requires scientific qualifications at PhD level at the time of employment.
