Senior / Staff Backend Engineer

The volume of legislation and case law is growing exponentially, and legal professionals are now faced with navigating more data than ever before. At Pandektes, our mission is clear: to be the go-to platform for legal information retrieval.

We aim to empower legal professionals with precise, in-depth, and lightning-fast access to legal knowledge. Our research platform is built to simplify the complexity of legal research using artificial intelligence, intelligent search, and constantly updated legal sources.

We've just raised €2.9M in seed-round funding and we're doubling down on our mission to support lawyers and legal professionals and are looking for another senior engineer to join our team and help us grow to the next level.

• Build the backend for various user-facing features and data integrations

• Help in improving our api architecture to ensure scalability, maintainability, and optimal performance while integrating cutting-edge technologies and adhering to best practices.

• Keep our platform stable so we can continue to deliver a high-level of availability to our customers

• Identifying the right problems to solve, focusing on meaningful outcomes, and using your experience to make trade-offs that have the highest impact on customers as fast as possible.

• Taking end-to-end ownership for features from start to finish-from inputting into initial design and planning all the way through to implementation, testing, and delivery.

• Scale our services so we can ingest larger volumes of data, more efficiently

• Building production-ready applicationsin Typescript with NestJS.

• Experience integrating AI technologieslike OpenAI and Pinecone into production systems to build innovative, data-driven solutions. Experience with vector databases, transformers, NLP and LLMs is a plus.

• Strong understanding of GraphQL and database design, including complex querying with transactions, schema management with Prisma ORM and Postgres, and implementing advanced security measures such as row-level security for fine-grained data access control.

• Passion for solving challenging problemsin the legal tech space, with a focus on building transparent and user-centric platforms with React.

• Self-starter and comfortable with ambiguitywhen navigating product challenges, and actively input into shaping product direction. You thrive in early ideation stages, share work-in-progress (such as drafts or MVPs) to gather feedback and actively seek others input.
