Test Engineer – be the key person to ensure high quality for our HQ-Defence product

Are you ready to play a crucial role in ensuring the quality of a mission-critical battle management system? Do you want to collaborate with an international team, testing cutting-edge software that supports defence forces worldwide? This is your chance to make an impact in a dynamic, agile environment. Ready for the challenge?

Be part of our HQ program and contribute to a skilled international test team
As a Tester, you will be part of the HQ program, which currently consists of 60 members split between Aarhus and Bucharest. You will join a dedicated SCRUM team alongside one full-time Tester, 4–6 Developers, one Architect, and a Project Manager.

The HQ program includes multiple SCRUM teams, bringing together 12 other full-time Testers, a Test Manager, Developers, Architects, UX specialists, and Project Managers. Additionally, you will be part of DEF's broader Test Team, a dynamic group of over 40 QA professionals.

Ensure high quality in a Mission-Critical Battle Management System
SitaWare Headquarters (HQ) is the core of the SitaWare product suite—a cross-domain battle management system designed to enhance decision-making across land, air, and maritime forces. It provides commanders with powerful tools to coordinate operations, exchange vital information, and develop joint strategic plans within their own, coalition, and joint battle networks.

The Apex team plays a key role in delivering essential features, covering installation, configuration, authentication, and authorization.

Your role as a Test Engineer:
As a Tester, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality of quality assurance of our component areas. You will be a part of the development from the early planning stages to the final delivery. While manual testing is your primary focus you will also be involved in our automation test strategy.

What you can expect:

  • Drive quality from the start: Ensure a high level of test quality throughout the entire feature development process by early test involvement.
  • Own the test documentation: Create and maintain essential test artifacts, including test considerations, test cases, risk analyses, and defect reports.
  • Be a key player in development: Collaborate closely with developers, product owners, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure quality-driven development.
  • Engage in diverse testing activities: Participate in system testing, field testing, bug hunts, and other test efforts to validate our features in real-world scenarios.
  • Shape testing strategies: Contribute to test planning, engage in automation design, and ensure new features are built with testability in mind.

By joining our team as a Test Engineer, you will play a vital role in delivering a high-quality, mission-critical product used by Defence forces worldwide.

What we're looking for
We're seeking a Tester with preferable 1–3 years of software testing experience and a background in Computer Science or similar relevant educational background. You can also be a newly graduate with the right motivation for the role and be qualified.

Equivalent hands-on testing expertise would be an advantage. It would be beneficial if you have experience working with Linux CLI, Docker (ideally Kubernetes). We use tools such as JIRA, Xray, and R4J along with scripting in Bash or PowerShell.

Experience in the military domain is a plus but not required, and an interest in automation will be an advantage.

  • Strong analytical and structured approach to testing
  • Strong communication skills are required (both oral and in written)
  • Fluency in English is required as it is our corporate language
  • Ability to design relevant Test Cases
  • Being curious and creative, asking questions and being able to look at the bigger picture

As a person you are detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently while collaborating with the team. There can be occasional travel days (5–10 days per year) to visit our teams on our other locations.

Please note that you must be able to present a clean criminal record and have lived in a NATO and/or an EU country for the past seven years as we work with security-classified projects.
