Kongens Lyngby, Lyngby-Tårbæk Kommune, Denmark COWI AS Full time

Are you excited about leadership, project management, and market development within Power-to-X and Carbon Capture? Do you want to enable and work with innovative projects such as Hydrogen Backbone and H2 Energy Hydrogen Production? And can you lead and inspire our Green Fuels and Energy discipline, to work globally on projects like these? Then, this is your chance to lead from the front.

Turn challenges into sustainable solutions – your role as Head of Green Fuels Mechanical
In Green Fuels we are a dynamic, international, and innovative team that delivers a wide range of engineering services to clients. Our highly motivated and skilled colleagues have brought us to a market-leading position within biomass, waste-to-energy, green fuels, Power-to-X, and carbon capture and we need you to be part of our growth journey

As Head of Green Fuels Mechanical, your most important responsibility will be to lead, develop, and engage your team of approximately 20 colleagues located in various offices in Denmark but with the majority placed in Lyngby, where the position is anchored. You will lead a multi-disciplinary team within biomass, waste to energy, green fuels, and carbon capture with seniority ranging from Student Assistant to Project Director. As part of your daily work, you will have close sparring with your peer leaders who work within line management, technical, and project leadership.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Carrying out the department action plan and strategy within your discipline,
  • Setting clear targets for performance and individual development of your employees
  • Day-to-day people management, recruitment, and onboarding activities as needed
  • Lead/support project teams for the undertaking of projects
  • Provide technical leadership on projects and facilitate standardization of tasks in your team
  • Providing input to staff workload planning
  • Implementation, integration, and development of digital strategies, tools, and systems

Your competencies are the key to our success.
We seek someone highly motivated, curious, and passionate about expanding their leadership knowledge and competencies. Like us, you believe that your success as a leader comes from setting meaningful and intentional direction for your team and supporting them in taking ownership of their work. You coach your people to achieve their aspirations through constructive, fact-based feedback – and you ensure an open and safe dialogue while creating a flexible and healthy work environment. Attracting and nurturing a diverse group of high-potential team members is at the top of your agenda, as is creating an inclusive, caring, and trusting culture in your team.

On top of that, you will have:

  • A relevant degree, preferably in engineering
  • Reasonable experience in a relevant role, e.g. within the biomass, process, petrochemical or waste-to-energy sector
  • Experience from other consultancy or supplier companies is advantageous, but not required
  • Leadership experience from a matrix organisation is advantageous, but not required

A place to work and so much more
At COWI, we work together with our customers to shape a sustainable and liveable world. We do it by applying our knowledge and curiosity – and sometimes even our courage – to create the solutions the world needs today to enable a better tomorrow. That is why we say no to fossil-based projects and aspire to have 100% of our revenue come from activities that move our customers towards sustainability.

We value differences and development and cultivate an environment of belonging and having fun. Because that is what brings out the best in you, at work and at home.

Got more questions?
If you have any unanswered questions about the role or what we have to offer, please reach out to Head of Engineering, Lars Mogensen at: +45 41 76 06 90. For questions about the recruitment process, you can reach out to Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist, Christina Rams Hoxer at: +45 56 40 35 78.

Before you apply
All you need to include in your application is your CV – no photo or application letter. At an interview, you can tell us everything we need to know about why you're interested in joining COWI. As for the photo, we prefer to form our first impression in person rather than from a picture.

Diversity is fundamental to COWI, inclusion is key.
We are committed to creating a respectful and fair work environment where all employees have a sense of belonging and equitable opportunities to thrive and grow. We ensure that our leaders are role models for inclusive leadership by cultivating a culture where diverse perspectives and thoughts are seen as strengths. And we take diversity and inclusion into account in all relevant decisions and processes and when setting teams and fora. We do it because it is part of our values and because it is simply the right thing to do.
