We work to ensure the rights of children and young people in the most vulnerable and fragile areas of the world with a special focus on girls and young women who are disproportionately affected by inequality, poverty, and crises.

About the job
The Education Specialist plays a critical role in the development, implementation, and management of education projects and initiatives across development, nexus, and humanitarian contexts. The position also provides guidance across PlanBørnefonden's teams and departments including policy, advocacy, communications, and fundraising on education.

A majority of current ongoing education projects focus on pre-primary education and primary education. Furthermore, Plan's approach to pre-primary education and non-formal education is based on child-centred teaching methodologies, gender transformative, and play-based approaches. Therefore, we are looking for someone with experience in these areas.

Key tasks of the position include:

  • Support Program Management on identification and prioritization of education funding and advocacy opportunities.
  • Overall responsible for technical sparring and support to PlanBørnefonden staff on education programming and projects.
  • Lead/support project development processes for education calls in Denmark and at Country Office level.
  • Provide programmatic support to advocacy initiatives on education and education in emergencies.
  • Provide technical support on education to Country offices, National Offices, and Global Hub.
  • Build and maintain relationships with education donors and partners.
  • Provide input throughout the organization on all issues related to education (communications, policy, fundraising, etc.).
  • Represent PlanBørnefonden in relevant forums and key education-related working groups, both within the Plan Federation and externally.
  • Responsible for assigned relevant projects and funds.

Experience:

  • 4+ years relevant professional experience managing, coordinating, and providing technical support in the education sector in humanitarian and development settings.
  • A relevant Master's Degree such as International Development or Education.
  • Experience from working and living in a humanitarian and development setting.
  • Experience working with key education donors, including Danish donors.
  • Experience in working with gender transformative approaches.
  • Experience in providing technical support in education within a global organization.
  • Experience in education material development, review, and contextualization processes.
  • Experience with logical framework approach (LFA) frameworks, needs assessments, proposal writing, budgeting, and reporting skills.
  • Ability to travel for work-related activities.
  • Fluency in English, knowledge of French strongly preferable.

Conditions of employment:

Starting date: 1st of November 2024. The position is for 1 year, with the possibility of extension.

Expected travel: Approximately 40 days a year.
