About the role
The role involves being the direct leader for Technicians and Operational Scientists, with over 15 employees in total. Team members are driven by the ever-changing manufacturing pace, maintaining a high focus on safety and quality, and enjoying a great team spirit. The team possesses expert knowledge of the process and GMP requirements. As team leader for Microbial Downstream Manufacturing, you and your fellow team leader will be responsible for our Microbial Downstream Manufacturing, operating 24/7, hence some shift work will be required.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Ensure daily production in a safe work environment and in GMP compliance. Safeguard housekeeping standards and represent the department during audits/inspections.
- Planning and coordination of work, board meetings, and shift plans.
- Leading, motivating, and coaching your team. People management, recruiting and onboarding new team members, assessing performance, and supporting people development.
- Safeguard the learning organization, ensure training is in place, and conduct process confirmations on the shop floor.
- Problem solving, continuous improvements, optimization, and standardization of work processes.
- Being part of the Microbial Manufacturing leadership team, focusing on excellence in daily operation, high reliability, and optimization for future preparations.
- Being a role model for AGC core values and AGC leadership values.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate has a "can-do" attitude and is happy to work in a fast-paced environment. You are curious, possess strong interpersonal skills, social and emotional intelligence, and are a team player encouraging development within your team. You have strong leadership and team management skills, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally within an organization. You effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels and communicate clearly. You are flexible, motivated, and excel in high-pressure periods, maintaining an organized and results-driven approach. Preferably, you have some of the following competencies/experiences:
- 5+ years of leadership experience.
- Experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, working in a GMP environment.
- Understanding of microbial downstream manufacturing.
- Technical or academic degree in bioprocessing or similar.
- LEAN/continuous improvement mindset.
