Senior Researcher, NLP

This role will bring language technologies into users' interactions with our world-class video management systems and build on our best-in-class video analytics, to explore new ways in which to provide multi-modal and agentic means to elicit human intentions and effect outcomes. Working both within the HCAI team, and with our colleagues in the Emerging Products function, this presents a unique opportunity to iteratively develop solutions with our large customer base (e.g., half a million installations of our VMS) and partner network.

Your primary responsibilities are:

• Establishing a role for NLP topics within Human-Centered AI mission and strategy.
• Proposing concrete applications of genAI, forming through collaboration novel products.
• Building a roadmap for NLP capabilities and strategy, both within the HCAI team and beyond in the company.

You will be a part of the newly established VP area Emerging Products within Milestone's Product and Technology function, made up of six teams including Perceptual AI, Human-Centered AI and analytics deployment. The aim of Emerging Products is to find new, untapped means to create products in the video technology space. The Human-Centered AI team mission, within which this role fits, is to develop systems that center human intent and use AI to enhance users' ability to effect that intent in a responsible and fair fashion.

What you bring:

• Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, or a related field – or 5-years' equivalent experience with NLP/ML.
• Demonstrated experience in successfully leading a major NLP-based project from conception to completion.
• Proven ability to create and implement a research strategy/agenda in the field of NLP.
• Experience in training, tuning and deploying generative ML models and applying them to real-world problems with language-based user interactions.
• Strong programming skills in Python, with proficiency in ML libraries such as PyTorch.
• Experience with data manipulation and analysis using tools like Pandas.
• Proficiency in at least one compiled and type-checked programming language (e.g., C++ or GoLang).
• Familiarity with LMMs (multi-modal models, e.g., VLMs) and their potential use cases.

Please note that the position is on-site at our headquarters in Brøndby, Denmark, and requires that you have a valid Danish work visa.
