DTU has considerable activities with quantum technologies, from leading edge research and innovation on quantum-based communication, quantum computing over quantum-based sensors and fabrication of quantum devices.

The growing activity together with an increasing interest in this technology is clearly manifested through the EU Quantum Flagship and a newly established NATO Quantum Center located in Copenhagen. The National Strategy for Quantum Technology in Denmark and a growing quantum eco-system with currently more than 1 bn€ investments in Denmark offers substantial opportunities. In addition, quantum technology has been pointed out as a future technology for in the EU Chip Act. Therefore, we are seeking a strong profile to coordinate, develop, and represent DTU interests and efforts in this important emerging field.

We are looking for a Head of Quantum DTU with excellent networking and communication skills, an in-depth understanding of academia and a proven track record regarding project management.

The Quantum DTU center is anchored at DTU Nanolab, the National Center for Nano Fabrication and Characterization with currently one employee. The Center refers to a steering group headed by DTU's Provost including the director of DTU Nanolab and head of departments from DTU Compute, DTU Electro, DTU Chemistry, and DTU Physics. The Head of Quantum DTU will refer to the director of DTU Nanolab.

Primary areas of responsibility

  • Support and develop strategic initiatives across DTU's many quantum activities
  • Coordinate quantum related research, education, and innovation between departments
  • Facilitate cross departmental research collaboration and funding applications
  • Communicate DTU's quantum related research, education and innovation internally and to stakeholders, including the political level
  • Coordinate consulting of external companies and authorities on quantum technology from DTU researchers
  • Coordinate and facilitate DTU's projects within the EU quantum flagship and the EU Chips Act
  • Represent DTU and coordinate efforts with relation to other strong actors and organizations within quantum technology (NATO DIANA, NQCP, QD)
  • Represent DTU and facilitate visits from national and international delegations
  • Take active part within DQC (Danish Quantum Community)
  • Establish a quantum hub at DTU as part of a network with other Danish universities and/or DTU partner universities around quantum technology
