Through our unique combination of household heroes and energy assets, we're at the heart of the energy transition in Ireland, strengthening the country's energy security and helping customers get ready for a net zero future.

About your role:

The Solar Designer is a crucial link between technical engineering and the successful implementation of our solar energy projects. Working in tandem with the Solar Operations Manager, you will deliver comprehensive Design and support to a multidisciplinary team, including project managers, customers and installers. You will also work closely with the QA team to ensure successful site visits, audits, and documentation compliance.

Your role encompasses all technical support activities for the solar energy division. This requires collaboration with a diverse range of stakeholders, problem-solving skills, and the ability to drive project success from conception to completion, aligning with business objectives and targets. You will be expected to manage and generate project specifications, such as budgets based on supplier and customer specifications, and technical reports for each project. As a Solar designer, you should be able to demonstrate leadership, teamwork, and adaptability while managing complex technical challenges within the solar industry.

Here's what we're looking for:

  • Able to create detailed sketches, drawings, and design specifications for photovoltaic solar projects.
  • Confident in conducting wind and snow load analysis, irradiance studies, and shading tests to ensure structural integrity and efficiency.
  • Strong communication skills, collaborating with project managers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Coordinate with procurement and installation teams to facilitate the onboarding of new installers and suppliers.
  • Stay updated with latest technical advancements in photovoltaic (PV) solar technology and engineering practices, and apply advanced knowledge of Irish standards.
  • Regularly inspect and monitor progress of existing PV systems, addressing any issues as they arise, and build expertise in various PV software systems.
  • Provide Level 2 technical support to customers, project managers, and installers, including managing warranty replacements.

Why should you apply?

We're not a perfect place – but we're a people place. Our priority is supporting all of the different realities our people face. Life is about so much more than work. We get it. That's why we've designed our total rewards to give you the flexibility to choose what you need, when you need it, making sure that you and your family are supported not only financially, but physically and emotionally too.

If you're full of energy, fired up about sustainability, and ready to craft not only a better tomorrow, but a better you, then come and find your purpose in a team where your voice matters, your growth is non-negotiable, and your ambitions are our priority.

Help us, help you. We would love for you to share any information about yourself throughout our recruitment process so that we can better understand you and help shape your journey.
