Do you enjoy finding solutions to integrate and analyse large ecological data sets with advanced methodologies? Are you creative and able to couple various data flows and provide end user targeted visualisations?
Departement of Biology advertises a postdoc position focused on data integration and visualisation.
The position is related to Center for Landscape Research inSustainable Agricultural Futures (Land-CRAFT)and Center for Sustainable Landscapes Under Global Change (SustainScapes).
Expected start date and duration of employment
Theposition is expected to start 1 November 2026 and will end 31 October 2029.
The post docposition focuses on research questions related to data integration and visualisation (e.g. digital twins) at theinterface between agricultural and biological sciences. This includes the integration of various types of field-based and sensor-based data (soil, acoustic, images, and species data), aswell as historical maps and satellite- and drone-based data. By addressing research questions relevant to data science, biology,and agroecology the aim is to improve data flows and create knowledge graphs and future visions of landscapes.
The tasks will encompass:
- Conceptualisation and synthesis of data integration and visualisation workflows.
- Data management and the development ofknowledge graphs
- Developmentand application of AI and machine learning methods and pipelines.
Qualifications
Ideally, you hold a PhD in Data Sciences and have several years of experience collaborating with scientists in natural sciences, particularly within biology, geography, agrobiology, or geology.
Specifically, we look for the following qualifications:
- PhD in Data Science and several years of proven experience in one or more of the relevant research fields.
- Proven expertise in temporal and geospatial analyses of ecological patterns.
- Experience in the conceptualisation and development of new methodological approaches.
- Strong documented skills in advanced AI and machine learning methods, including demonstrated experience in analysing historical and contemporary land-use data.
- Provencapability to acquire, download, manage, and synthesise large geospatial datasets from diverse sources.
- Provenskills in developing data workflows and data management strategies for a variety of sensor-based datasets.
- Proven ability to publish at a high international level. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are required.
- Stronginterpersonal and collaborative skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively across disciplines and employee groups.

The Department of Biology
The Department of Biology (http://bio.au.dk/ ) provides a framework for research and teaching in all major biological subdisciplines. The department is especially known for its research contribution in biodiversity, global change and conservation biology, aquatic biology and ecology, arctic environment and ecosystems, genetics and evolution,microbiology and zoophysiology. The department currently encompasses approximately 200 academic and technical staff and 45 PhD students while 400 students follow the BSc and MSc programs offered by the institute.
