Offer Description
Core research areas of the Department of Marketing include Branding, B2B Marketing/Sales, Consumer Behavior, Digital Marketing, and Tourism & Hospitality Management. The assistant professor’s research must have a clear relevance to digital marketing but may span or intersect with one or more of the Department’s other core research areas.
Expected starting date is during 2027 (preferably no later than 1 September).
The Department is a highly regarded provider of research-based marketing education in Europe and we consistently rank among Europe's top 5 business schools based on the number of high-quality research publications in leading marketing journals. We are committed to academic excellence and to fostering a friendly, diverse and inclusive academic environment in which colleagues engage with and support one another and contribute actively to department life. With more than 45 faculty members representing a variety of backgrounds, research interests and methodological approaches, the department offers a combination of broad and deep expertise with which we co-create and deliver value for sustainable business growth. In addition, the department engages around 60 part‑time lecturers with solid, practice-oriented experience. Our teaching responsibilities comprise undergraduate, graduate, and executive teaching in general marketing and across the core research areas of the Department. Teaching is delivered in both Danish and English.
The assistant professorship is a fixed-term position (4 years) with research and teaching obligations. To fulfil the responsibilities of the position and participate actively in department life, successful applicants are expected to be physically present on a regular basis and engage in the teaching, research, and other academic activities of the Department. Successful applicants will also participate in the Higher Education Teaching Excellence Programme (HETEP) at CBS. The programme provides the assistant professor with two supervisors—one from the Department of Marketing and one from another department—who offer guidance and support throughout the programme.
Responsibilities
- Individual and group-based research meeting high international standards
- High-quality teaching and associated examination
- Applying for external funding (possibly with senior colleagues)
- Contributing to the administrative responsibilities of the department and to CBS-wide tasks
- External engagement, including communicating societal impact to the public in general and to CBS’s stakeholders in particular
- Active participation in department life, including engaging in research and other academic activities and contributing to a collaborative and supportive collegial environment
- Promoting CBS's academic reputation
Qualifications
The applicant must have scientific qualifications at PhD level or equivalent. Emphasis is placed on the applicant’s research potential. Accordingly, demonstrated potential to develop a strong research profile may be given greater weight than the volume of research produced to date.
The applicant must have professional proficiency in English (written and spoken). The Department has teaching commitments in both English- and Danish-language programmes and welcomes applicants who can contribute to teaching in Danish; however, proficiency in Danish is not a requirement for the position. Copenhagen Business School has a broad commitment to the excellence, distinctiveness and relevance of its teaching and research. Candidates who wish to join us should demonstrate enthusiasm for working in an organization of this type (highlighting also, for example, relevant business and dissemination activities).
