København V, Denmark Green Finance Institute Full time

- Built Environment, Carbon & Nature markets Location: Copenhagen, hybrid work at home and at main office – occasional UK travels Starting date: February 2025 or as soon as possible Contract: 12 months contract with the possibility of extension Working language: Danish and English Responsible Director: Signe Fosgaard, Director of GFI Denmark ---------------------------------------- The Green Finance Institute Denmark is looking for a Senior Associate to help lead a new project on monetisation of construction stored carbon. The right candidate will lead this newly established workstream, focusing on how to monetise carbon capture, footprint reducing construction techniques and biodiversity enhancing measures in the Danish built environment. The role requires strong project management skills, understanding of the financial sector and available financial instruments, stakeholder management skills, keen attention to detail and an ability to work independently on quantitative tasks. A core part of the project is understanding carbon market mechanisms, European trading system and future CO2 tax, and an ability to integrate these pricing mechanisms into business cases in the Danish built environment. The overall aim of the project is to identify, create and mature pathways for investment in reducing buildings’ negative impacts on climate and ecosystem health, and support conditions for net-zero and nature positive impacts from the built environment. About the GFI Established in 2019, the Green Finance Institute (GFI) is at the forefront of shaping how finance can be used to facilitate a real economy transition, by creating the enabling environments and financial solutions needed to accelerate the transition to a net-zero and nature positive economy. Through its ‘Transactions to Transitions’ (T2T) approach, the GFI is uniquely positioned to bridge the gap between committed capital and impactful solutions, delivering positive outcomes for climate and nature by redeploying capital at the pace and scale that the science demands. By working with governments, and partnering with financial institutions, corporates, NGOs, policymakers, academics and civil society experts, the GFI has mobilised £77bn in committed capital over six years. T2T is GFI’s approach to coordinate the value chain and connect country-level demand with investment supply by aligning policy, development capital, and pipeline development. This rigorous deal-doing approach coupled with a focus on fundability is designed to scale from the outset, focusing on replicable sector and project models that can be applied across regions. No single organisation can address every part of the value chain. To accelerate impact across these and other projects, GFI coordinates experts in policy, development finance, structured finance and project development. This approach not only works to create deals, it helps create institutional approaches that can enable these deals to be replicated and scale across priority sectors and geographies You can find out more about the Institute on our website: www.greenfinanceinstitute.co.uk What we offer This is a new role sitting within the Danish office of GFI. We are a growing, ambitious, and collaborative team with a strong focus on real outcome delivery. Our main office is at the SEB building in Copenhagen, but you will also have access to our community working space at Thoravej 29 where you will have opportunity to learn about the exciting work done by other value driven organisations.
