About us
The Center for Quantum Devices is a research center comprising materials research, experimental solid-state physics, quantum nanoelectronics, and condensed matter theory. The Center provides a vibrant scientific environment with cutting-edge research performed across many different groups spread across condensed matter experiments with close ties to a strong theory department as well as longstanding collaborations with industry.
Our center is a part of Condensed Matter Physics at the Niels Bohr Institute, Faculty of Science, University of Copenhagen. We are located in Copenhagen and offer creative, stimulating working conditions in a dynamic and international research environment.

Tasks
Your task will include providing technical support for academic research at QDev within mainly
- Materials development and growth by Molecular Beam Epitaxy
- Structural characterization by Transmission and Scanning Electron Microscopy
- Electrical device preparation and transport measurements at low temperatures
The research is focused on the development of the experimental, quantum dot based platforms for quantum simulations within the SolidQ program funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation. This interdisciplinary project involves a large team of academic staff, technicians and students within physics and nanoscience.
We expect
- PhD degree in physics or a relevant engineering discipline
- Extensive experience in epitaxial materials growth, electron microscopy and sample preparation
- Prior experience in managing advanced technical support or academic research projects
- A documented record of (co)authorship on scientific publications within the areas covered by the position
- Preferably experimental experience within one or more of these types of systems: quantum dots, superconducting devices, semiconductor heterostructures and nanowires, magnetic nanostructures
- A strong motivation for supporting academic research and training at the highest international level
Terms of salary and employment
The employment and salary are made in accordance with the Circular on the Collective Agreement concerning academics in the state sector concluded between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
Employment will be as academic employee. The salary is based on seniority. Negotiation for salary supplement is possible. The working time are 37 hours per week on average. The working hours are flexible.
If it is deemed appropriate from an overall perspective, you must be prepared to be
security screened, in relation to international research and innovation collaboration, as
part of the employment process at the University of Copenhagen.
