Data Analyst for Universal Music Denmark

The Commercial Department at Universal Music Denmark is UMG's in-house Digital Marketing, Commercial, and Insights Hub. The Data Analyst position will be part of the Central North Europe (CNE) Analytics team, UMG's hybrid full-stack analytics division covering the Nordic and Benelux regions.

As a Data Analyst, you will collaborate with the Commercial team based in Copenhagen to support our labels and artists. You'll provide analysis and insights that help them make decisions on release and marketing strategies.

The focus of the Data Analyst will be on supporting data projects across the organization, particularly in reporting and transforming data from various audience and commercial platforms, so that the output can feed into further processes, e.g., Machine Learning, reports, and dashboards.

This role will help implement strategic data projects, as well as support day-to-day ad-hoc requirements. This may include building and maintaining data solutions, creating new workflows, and ensuring timely and accurate delivery of data across the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead projects with hands-on analysis and modeling, drawing from multiple analytical methods to choose the right tool and complexity appropriate for the business challenges.
  • Engage broadly with the organization to identify, prioritize, frame, and structure analytics projects and/or tools.
  • Identify and communicate the challenges and opportunities found through data and translate these to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Articulate business questions and use mathematical techniques to arrive at answers using data. Translate analysis results into business recommendations.
  • Visualize data to produce clear and engaging dashboards and reports.
  • Ensure smooth handover of reports and dashboards as required, ensuring processes are repeatable and well documented.

Experience/Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in a field such as Machine Learning, Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or Economics.
  • 1+ years of relevant working experience in an analytical role.
  • Experience processing, filtering, and presenting large quantities of data (millions to billions of rows) from different product groups and business functions.
  • Experience with cloud computing, ideally GCP, with experience in uploading and creating tables of data within these platforms and optimizing tables for use by visualization and BI tools (e.g., Azure, Redshift, Snowflake, or BigQuery).
  • Experience with dashboard tools like Looker Studio, Power BI, or Tableau.
  • Master's degree in a field such as Machine Learning, Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or Economics is a plus.
  • Knowledge in scripting or computing languages (Python, R, etc.).
  • Experience in the streaming media industry or other subscription-based services.
