Is coastal engineering both your passion and excellence, combined with the desire to make a positive impact on the nearshore environment? We have the inspiring projects – let’s close the gap for a sustainable future together
Do you want to bring your profound COASTAL and MARINE engineering expertise into play, taking on technical development and project expert responsibilities, contributing to innovation and high-quality design solution? Do you want to challenge status quo in the hydraulic modelling, bring nature-inclusive design into play and inspire younger colleagues to combine hydraulic knowledge, coastal design and MetOcean expertise to shape a sustainable future in the coastal zone? You have the competences – we will bring them into play on resilient and future-fit coastal projects.
If this sounds like you, or you’re curious to learn more, then this role could be the perfect opportunity. Join our Port, Marine and Costal Engineering department as our new Technical Manager Coastal Engineering and work with us to close the gap to a sustainable future.
Your new role
As our new Technical Manager Coastal Engineering, you will have extensive experience in the technical areas of coastal engineering, flood protection, hydraulic modelling and MetOcean analysis from projects of coastal protection, beach design, complex marine jobs and the offshore wind industry. You are eager to add value to people, clients, the society and our business, and would like to be a role model for younger staff and cooperation partners.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Engaged in the department management, develop the coastal engineering team further, and implement the strategy with focus on resilience, renewables, net-zero and nature-inclusive design
- Drive the development and innovation of our coastal and hydraulic modelling skillset as a team effort
- Lead hydraulic modelling assignments of all aspects, supporting EIAs, MetOcean studies and diverse marine projects.
- Take responsibility for technical project delivery as discipline lead/project manager from proposal stage to client handover
- Maintain the highest level of quality in our deliverables
- Promote our capabilities in the market and discover new market areas
- Co-create closely with clients and stakeholders, focusing on value creation
- Act as role model for our younger team members
Your new team
As our new Technical Manager, you will join a universally recognized marine team, with excellent collaboration with municipalities, contractors, port owners and renewable developers worldwide. You will be part of a diverse international department at Ramboll global headquarters in Copenhagen and work on major coastal and marine projects across all stages from planning to detailed design together with our team of highly engaged and specialized engineers throughout Ramboll. As Technical Manager you are part of the department management team and develop both strategy and staff competences in the field of coastal engineering.
We have a significant pipeline of national and international coastal and marine projects with a determined focus to make the coastal and marine world resilient and future-fit.
Currently we are leading several major coastal and marine projects in Europe and overseas, ensuring climate resilience, flood protection and the blue-green energy transition, such as the flood protection strategy for greater Copenhagen, coastal impact assessment for the Gdansk port extension and many MetOcean studies and sediment spill assessments worldwide.
Join us in doing what we are great at – together we can shape the industry, support the green energy transition and build a climate resilient future.
Our department works with a broad spectrum of coastal and marine projects, from feasibility studies, EIAs, coastal planning and design to implementation supervision. Our team is well balanced between senior experts, project managers, specialists and new graduates. You will receive a warm welcome of co-workers passionate about their field of expertise. Knowledge-sharing and open-minded collaboration across all levels within the department and across the organisation is part of our DNA and enables us to deliver innovative, yet efficient solutions on a high-quality standard. Your future colleagues have extensive experience from both national and international coastal and marine projects. The multidisciplinary aspect of Ramboll and focus on innovation and sustainability give you a unique opportunity to work with experts from all fields, add your expertise and personality to the team and developing others’ and your skills further.
About you
From the moment you start at Ramboll, we will support your personal and professional development so that you can continue to grow with the company. - Comprehensive insight in relevant codes and design methodology
- Large experience with complex multidisciplinary coastal projects, such as coastal protection over long stretches, flood defence and artificial islands and port extensions
- Great communication skills - English and Danish at a professional level
- You thrive in a collaborative work environment with many stakeholders
- Sustainability is on top of your mindset, and you actively want to investigate and apply green and resilient solutions
- Your skillset is respected in the market, and you have built up a valuable network, enabling you to understand clients’ needs and market trends.
Personal qualities that will ensure you succeed in this role include an open mindset and the ability to work both independently and as a team player.
You are a confident communicator and enjoy pushing the innovation and technical excellence to the next level as well as motivating younger engineers and onboard them on the coastal engineering journey.
