The Senior Project Lead Engineer is responsible for providing the technical lead and coordination for all engineering activities for assignments classified as medium engineering complexity. Ensure that activities related to all engineering disciplines within the project are efficiently and cost-effectively executed in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.

What will you do?

  • Ensure that engineering is developed with complete information and that all multidisciplinary information has been included in the engineering development. Solve problems that appear during engineering development. Drive completion of all engineering activities on the project.
  • Authorize engineering deliverables acting as the overall design authority (coordinating engineer) for all applicable engineering disciplines. May act as responsible engineer (design authority) for a particular engineering discipline and complete engineering assignments for that discipline.
  • Collaborate with the project installation, commissioning and site activities clarifying potential issues or providing solutions to correct engineering errors. Provide technical support to the commissioning and start-up activities.
  • Create proposals for engineering projects or programs through coordination of proposal drawings, bills of materials and estimated engineering hours for all engineering disciplines. Perform engineering risk analysis before submitting proposals.
  • Support the Contract Manager in issuing claims (new scope of work, cost impact, time impact, risk quantifications etc.).
  • Define project tasks and ensure allocation of these tasks to project team members, specifying relevant schedule, cost and quality metrics.
  • Coordinate the creation of work plans and cost estimates for work in all applicable engineering disciplines. Proactively manage the Project Engineering team to deliver the agreed program on time, on quality and at the targeted cost.
  • Act as the ABB technical lead for all engineering disciplines on a project. Interact with customers and officials, contractors, and others.
  • Attend project meetings and present all technical aspects of project assignments. Work with the customer to shape and deliver solutions, actively seeking feedback and innovating with the customer to drive and deliver improvement.
  • Oversee the creation of engineering subcontracts and manage the engineering subcontractor jointly with other involved disciplines, including Supply Chain Management. Negotiate claims and engineering changes.

Experience, Education and other Required:

  • Degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Substation or EPC background preferable.
