As our new Server Engineer, you will be part of the Digital Engineering arm of Project Delivery & Engineering where we stand at the forefront of working towards a fossil-free future. We are dedicated to executing major global infrastructure projects, navigating a dynamic and challenging environment to guarantee safety, promptness, quality, and budget compliance.

Within our Digital Engineering division, we specialise in delivering and integrating digital solutions aimed at facilitating renewable energy production and ensuring dependable operations. As the primary provider of digital solutions within the Business Unit Offshore Wind, we oversee the whole value chain, from bid acquisition to asset construction and operation. Our focus lies on Operational Technology (OT) and IT, harnessing control and analytic modelling synergies to optimise engineering design through comprehensive data integration.

As one of the key functions in Vattenfall's wind business, Digital Technology Engineering is responsible for supporting wind projects, operational sites and other business units in managing SCADA equipment, communication and respective infrastructure.

Your profile
Your role / what will you do?
We are looking for a Server Engineer to support our operational fleet and ensure the safe and competitive operation of all Vattenfall Wind Power wind farms. This critical role is integral to Vattenfall's wind business, supporting wind projects, operational sites, and various business units.

As a Server Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include configuring and testing our virtual and physical server and storage platforms, as well as managing the backup of our infrastructure across a distributed geographical environment.

Your responsibility will include:

• Support both projects and operations ranging from construction to operational support of both large offshore and onshore windfarms
• Maintaining the virtual infrastructure hardware, operating systems, and VMs on servers which support business processing requirements.
• Maintain, upgrade, and implement improvements to the VMware vCenter and ESXi infrastructure.
• Managing backup and disaster procedures and strategy for our live WindParks.
• Perform upgrades to operating systems and software packages (Windows services, or other enterprise apps) as necessary.
• Create and maintain system documentation for updates made to the infrastructure.
• Participate in server design and implementations of the selected solutions.
• Travel may be expected across Northern Europe (UK,NL,DE,DK,SE)
• Expectation to be periodically on-call

Technical Competences:

• Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Experience with administration of VMware in a stretched cluster environment.
• Experience with administration of storage systems in a clustered environment.
• Preferably experience in administration of VDI Horizon environments
• Experience with administration of endpoint protection.
• Experience in monitoring and logging systems (such as Splunk, Solarwinds etc)
• Knowledge of Windows infrastructure technologies (AD, DNS, WSUS, Certificates)

Your profile / who are you?
You hold a degree in IT or have equivalent long-term experience in the field, with preferred certifications in VMware and/or Microsoft technologies. Since we operate in an international environment, fluency in both spoken and written English is essential. Additionally, you possess excellent communication skills, enabling you to effectively interact with representatives from various professional groups, external business partners, and colleagues.
