about the job
As Project Manager at GomSpace, you will be responsible for executing and managing complex projects for international clients, comprising commercial, government bodies and defense organizations. The position is pivotal to GomSpace's project organization, and the potential to grow the business and optimize project deliveries is massive.

You will be part of the Programs Business Unit and it is your job to estimate, plan and deliver on key objectives in close collaboration with management, the project staff, our Products and Manufacturing organization as well as several other key stakeholders.

You will be responsible for 1-2 projects at a time, that typically span over the course of 1 to 2,5 years. Depending on the scope and complexity of the project, 5-15 colleagues will be involved. You will help to set up the project team which includes disciplines like system and software engineers, assembly and integration specialists, hardware -, mechanical - and electrical engineers, manufacturing and potentially other project managers.

Responsibilities include:

• Project management of high-scale technical space projects and space missions.
• Interaction, dialog and planning with international clients.
• Manage contract, contractual goals, terms, and changes, including alignment with customers.
• Ensuring timely project deliverables with agreed quality.
• Ensuring a proper balance between budget and schedule.
• Ensuring in due time ordering of parts, component, services and resources to execute and deliver according to the agreed project schedule.
• Project budget and resource planning. Stakeholder management, including project status reporting according to GomSpace Project Model.
• Lead and manage combined agile and 'classic' projects, following the GomSpace Project Model – including also contributions to project model improvements.
• Manage the company internal touchpoints in other Business Units and at other geographical locations.
• Participation in bid & proposal activities.

This position is based in Aalborg, Denmark. Travel activity 15- 20days/year.

To succeed in the role, 3-5 years of experience with project management from a related field and a sound commercial understanding are required. An educational background in systems or software engineering or similar is also required to understand and to work with the challenges in our project teams. We prefer that you bring experience as an engineer previously in your career and that you have a sound technical understanding and curiosity.

An interest in new space technology and technological trends in general are also important to both succeed and enjoy being a part of the company.

Qualifications:

• Educational background in engineering: systems, software, hardware or related
• Great communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience with technically complex projects
• A combined commercial and technological understanding and ability to bridge between the two.
• Self-motivated – able to lead and show the way – able to listen – able to decide – able to find solutions.
• Maybe you bring certification in IPMA, PMP or PRINCE2 as documentation of your project management skills.
• Understands how to manage a project financially and apply Earned Value Management principles
• Fluent in spoken and written English
