The Team

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Senior Gameplay Programmer with strong leadership capabilities to step into a transitional leadership role. Initially, you will function as a Senior Gameplay Programmer joining one of the cross-professional feature teams who develop features and content for our game, with added responsibilities involving team mentorship and collaboration and supporting the Lead Gameplay Programmer. We study relevant features in competing games and make pragmatic choices on whether to develop something new versus taking inspiration from existing mechanics and iterating on them. Player choice, retention, quality of life, accessibility and customization options (including mod support) are important factors when we develop features and content
As we prepare for future growth, your role will evolve into leading a part of the engineering team, helping us manage our expanding projects and shaping the technical vision for our gameplay systems.

Desirable skills and knowledge

  • 10 years of relevant game industry experience as a gameplay programmer
  • Proven experience leading teams of engineers, either as direct Lead or acting Lead, with demonstrated success in delivering complex gameplay systems.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with a talent for fostering positive team dynamics
  • Strong Problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with PC and/or console games
  • Excellent C++ skills
  • Preferably experience working with multiplayer games
  • Experience working with Unreal Engine
  • At least 2 credits from an AA or AAA game
  • Relevant bachelor degree or equivalent experience
  • Excellent organizational skills

Role responsibilities

  • Develop new game features together with other developers
  • Coordinate with other leads to plan, resolve dependencies and blockers
  • Ensure project meets technical quality and performance goals in close collaboration with the Lead Gameplay Programmer and other tech leads.
  • Work closely with the Lead Gameplay Programmer to establish and uphold best practices, coding standards, and efficient workflows.
  • Contribute to planning and sprint management, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality features.
  • Assist with overseeing technical design for core game systems
  • Assist in evaluating and integrating new tools and technologies to enhance gameplay development processes.
  • Assist with technical design and planning tasks
  • Assist with enforcing project code standards
  • Assist with refactoring existing game features
  • Mentor other developers
  • Create and hold presentations for the team or external collaborators as needed
