The focus of the Stewart-Morgan group is epigenetic dynamics and function in germ cell biology. We use both in vivo and in vitro systems of mammalian gametogenesis to study the role of the epigenome in germ cells and elucidate general epigenetic principles using this unique biological system. We strive for an open, collaborative and collegial work environment that provides ample mentorship and training opportunities to further each member's individual career goals.
Your job
Your tasks will include designing experimental strategies, generation and analysis of complex datasets, and writing of scientific manuscripts. Additional tasks could include contributing to grant applications, research-based supervision of MSc and PhD students, teaching undergraduate courses, and outreach communication activities.
Profile
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following competencies and experience:
Essential experience and skills:
- You have a PhD in life sciences or a similar field.
- You have experience in mouse model generation and mouse genetics.
- You have an active interest in epigenetics, genome regulation, or gametogenesis.
- Proficient communication skills and ability to work in teams.
- Excellent English skills written and spoken.
Desirable experience and skills:
- Experience in mouse embryology.
- Experience in embryonic stem cell culture and CRISPR/Cas9 methods.
- Experience in flow cytometry and/or imaging experimental design and analysis.
- Experience in bioinformatic analysis of functional genomics data sets (e.g., RNA-seq, bisulfite sequencing).
- Experience in apoptosis.
- Previous publication as a first author.
Scientific environment
The Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine (ICMM) offers an ambitious scientific environment, with many different nationalities represented. ICMM aims to produce research with high international impact focusing on the functional cell, its genetic components, and molecular cellular mechanisms in a medical context. ICMM currently comprises five research programs, three high profile Research Centers, as well as a number of international research groups. The scientists at ICMM are involved in high quality research-based undergraduate and graduate teaching programs at the University of Copenhagen. You can read more at ICMM .
The place of employment is at the Medical Genetics program within the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Panum Institute, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in a dynamic and international research environment. Our research facilities include modern laboratories, dedicated facilities for flow cytometry, imaging, next-generation sequencing including single-cell genomics, and state-of-the-art embryology facilities for mouse and human research.
Terms of employment
