At BTECH, we have a strong focus on company collaboration, which is reflected in our research and study programmes. As a researcher, we expect that you advance the research frontier through applied research. If you also have the competences to contribute to our students' educational development and knowledge building in companies, you may be just the person we are looking for.

We expect that you have a strong background as mechanical engineer, production engineer, or similar, and that your areas of interest are within two or more of the following disciplines:

  • Manufacturing: Mechanical engineering or production automation related to physical production and production technologies.
  • Relationships between product design, product development, production and recycling/decommissioning – product lifecycle management.
  • Interest in complex manufacturing systems and layouts including machining, assembly, modularization, automation, stocking, and digitalization.
  • Manufacturing and global supply chains, including topics such as reshoring and nearshoring.
  • General considerations with respect to manufacturing such as quality, compliance, sustainability, standards, and regulation.

Candidates are expected to teach and supervise students at all levels, including supervision of PhD students. Our study programmes include an MSc in Engineering (Technology Based Business Development) as well as Bachelor of Engineering programmes in Forretningsudvikling (Business Development) and Global Management and Manufacturing (supply chain/production). Hence, candidates should be able to teach courses in one or more of the following domains: Operations management, supply chain management, management of technology, and technology-based business development. • A commitment to sharing insights and knowledge with the broader society and prioritising dialogue with practitioners.
  • A commitment to teaching that provides the students with relevant competences as well as the ability to reflect critically on business topics.
  • A willingness to engage in external research funding activities.

Applicants are encouraged to describe how their research is important for industry. The description could include concrete collaborations, impact, dissemination activities, etc.

Non-Danish speakers are required to acquire a reasonable knowledge of the Danish language within three years. The department will grant time off from teaching to attend Danish courses during the first two years of employment.

Permanent employment as associate professor at Aarhus BSS requires completion of the supervision course and also the course Online and blended learning provided by Centre for Educational Development at Aarhus University.
