Senior Data Engineer

Are you a creative data engineer with a passion for data and cloud-first compute systems? Do you want to join an existing, high-output team of academic and professional experts to tackle some of the most complex challenges in advertising? If so, we'd love to meet you.

Our team is embarking on a highly strategic project at the intersection of data science, advertising technology, and audience insights, with a focus on privacy-friendly predictive modeling for audience segmentation and targeting. The system we are building will support 1/3rd of the world's ad campaigns, so the scope is huge, and the success of our team depends on our ability in the near term to demonstrate to key stakeholders the superiority of our system, and then follow up on that promise in the mid-long term.

What You'll Do:

  1. You will design and implement data ingestion and transform pipelines to process a variety of both proprietary and publicly available data sets.
  2. You will design cloud architecture to run pipelines efficiently.
  3. You will focus on delivering high quality data.
  4. You will be part of a team of data engineers and work closely with our knowledge graph architects.
Who You Are:

  1. You have a strong academic background (Master's in Computer Science or related field) and consider yourself a problem solver.
  2. You are hands-on but are also comfortable with driving a project.
  3. You have proven experience working with both web-based data extraction and ETL pipelines (preferably Apache Spark).
  4. You're passionate about solving real-world problems using scalable architectures. You are micro-service oriented and understand that one-size-fits-all is not necessarily the best approach when working with Cloud Services.
  5. You have a track record of delivering end-to-end software engineering projects and deploying them at scale.
  6. You are creative and seek new paths to solving problems.
  7. You are a strong communicator who thrives in collaborative environments and is eager to mentor others as well.
  8. You know how to land on your feet when priorities change. You want to work in a high-throughput environment.

  1. If you have experience with multiple programming languages (we currently use Node.js, Python, and Scala).
