Job Description: We are seeking applicants for a 3-year postdoc in marine biodiversity, to join us at the Department of ECOSCIENCE working within developing methods for monitoring, modelling, and assessing the biodiversity gained through marine restoration projects.

Expected start date and duration of employment: This is a 3-year position from 1 September 2024 or as soon as possible. This is a fixed-term position to end on 31 August 2027.

Job description: The postdoc position is part of a newly funded Aage V. Jensen project: Quantification of marine Ecosystem Services in connection with Marine nature Restoration (QESMAR). The overall aim of the QESMAR project is to develop a standardized assessment framework to efficiently quantify achieved Ecosystem Services (ES) and make them comparable across different restored habitats.

The postdoc will collaborate with 2 PhD projects to develop tools to efficiently monitor and quantify a range of ES's associated with marine restoration projects. Responsibilities will include:

  1. Field-based monitoring using both conventional and molecular techniques.
  2. Investigations in different restored habitats (seagrass meadows, kelp forests, mussel reefs).
  3. Collaboration with the marine biodiversity monitoring group and the marine model group at the department, as well as external partners.
  4. Contributing to strengthen the competences of the Danish national center for marine restoration .

Minimum Qualifications: Applicants should hold a PhD in marine ecology, biology, environmental sciences, or similar. We expect that you have:

  1. Expert knowledge on benthic ecology and biodiversity.
  2. Expert knowledge in the use of conventional and molecular methods for monitoring benthic biodiversity.
  3. Experience with marine restoration.
  4. Publications in high-ranking journals.
  5. Good collaboration skills and ability to work in an interdisciplinary team within marine science.
  6. Very good knowledge of English (written and oral).
  7. Good communication skills (scientific community, the public, stakeholders, and managers).
  8. Experience in data analysis and statistical tools.
  9. Preferable experience with advisory work.
