M&A Underwriter

AIG is looking to strengthen our Nordic Mergers & Acquisitions (“M&A”) underwriting team with a skilled and motivated professional who brings documented experience in the transactional M&A sphere. This position, based in our centrally located Copenhagen office, serves clients across the Nordic region - Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden – as well as the Netherlands.

As an M&A Underwriter, you will play a critical role in analysing legal and commercial risks associated with M&A transactions and providing tailored insurance solutions to meet client objectives. Your responsibilities include:

• Underwriting corporate transaction risks, including warranties, indemnities, litigation buyouts, and contingent risks.
• Collaborating with the M&A team to deliver bespoke transaction insurance documents on time.
• Conducting in-depth legal and commercial reviews of due diligence reports in coordination with external counsel.
• Managing relationships with brokers, lawyers, and clients to maintain and grow business opportunities.
• Developing innovative insurance products and strategies to expand AIG’s presence in the Nordics and the Netherlands.
• Driving new business development while fostering strong broker and client partnerships.

We are looking for a candidate with:

• A university degree in law, economics, or a combination of both.
• Some years of experience in M&A transactions, whether through an international law firm, a corporate environment, or other relevant settings.
• Strong knowledge of M&A processes and the ability to assess and navigate legal and commercial risks.
• Fluency in English and at least one Nordic language (additional Nordic languages or Dutch are a plus).
• High resilience, enthusiasm, creative thinking, and a positive, flexible mindset, especially when handling tight deadlines.
