Technical Writer

It’s an exciting time to join Tactile. We're a diverse team of storytellers, puzzle enthusiasts and casual mobile game creators. Our story began in 2008 in the heart of beautiful Copenhagen, and since then we have experienced continuous growth, establishing ourselves as one of the largest gaming companies in Denmark. In more recent years, we have been scaling fast, in big part thanks to the success of a little game called Lily’s Garden. Now we’re on a mission to solidify our position as one of the leaders in creating out-of-the-ordinary casual puzzle games.
With more than 300 talented individuals, we are a mix of over 40 nationalities and 43% women. We truly appreciate the richness of different experiences and perspectives that Tactilers bring to the game. This is why we foster a lean organisational culture, in which each individual is encouraged to take responsibility, be open and grow in their own way. We pride ourselves in cultivating a studio environment that stays away from crunch, that fosters your skills no matter what your discipline is, and one that gives you a place to be creative alongside other passionate and invested storytellers.
Your role & impact (but let's make it a song):
Hey Siri, play Torn by Natalie Imbruglia
We Need a Writer by Martina Walander, Technical Writer
We thought a single writer was enough
To write things down, take some notes, maybe draw some stuff
An easy job that’s not too tough
Turns out there’s more to write down than we thought
Two full-time jobs, maybe more, and we need support
The situation’s getting fraught
The projects they just multiply
The need for docs intensifies
That’s what’s going on …
We need a writer now
You’ll be in the code
Dancing through stack traces
Extracting information
From some really crazy places
Sometimes you need to dig
And sometimes you need to listen
Explaining things in friendly ways
Is going to be your mission
The perfect sky is torn
It’s a unique job
And our search is on
️️
This role is based in our beautiful Copenhagen office , as we truly believe that when talented people work closely together, amazing things happen
Okay, let’s get a little bit more specific. Here’s what you’ll be doing on the day-to-day as a Technical Writer at Tactile:
- Keeping up with the new product features our teams are releasing (whether it’s our Core or Game teams)
- Producing developer documentation, onboarding guidelines and user documentation for our internal Confluence pages
- Continuously improving our documentation content and fill-in the gaps in our documentation in collaboration with our other tech writer, our engineers, product managers and others
- Doing a lot of independent investigation
- Run presentations for Tactilers on what’s new in our internal infrastructure and game development processes
What we’re looking for:
- You have some kind of a background in programming, but have switched to technical writing in the past years, or perhaps you’re just blogging on the side for now, but would like to make writing your full-time career
- You’re super proactive and a fast learner - nothing excites you more than talking to people, figuring out what they do, learning new concepts and then writing about them
- You’re a great communicator and can have meaningful conversations with both tech and non-tech people
- You have a creative side and can write about APIs in other ways than just plain text (perhaps in a song)
You'll make us extra excited if you also have:
- Knowledge of Unity and/or C# (we use these to develop our games)
- Knowledge of Node & TypeScript (we use these to develop all of our internal infrastructure, platforms, tools and services)
- Knowledge of data processing & analytics platforms
What’s in it for you?
A lot of flexibility - In this role you’ll be writing internal documentation, which means you won’t have to spend so much time on editing and fine-tuning
Writing for a smaller audience - Rather than being strangers on the internet, your audience will be your colleagues, which means you can easily go and talk to them, learn about what they do, how they do it and why it’s important for our business
Learn by doing - You’ll have a chance to play different roles in the company and be, for example, a Game Programmer for a day and try out what they do first-hand
A good variety of technical areas - You’ll have the opportunity to write about our unique and extremely complex backend infrastructure, custom tooling we have developed for Unity, gameplay programming, our newly built data platform, marketing stuff, user docs, APIs and more …
And also:
Beautiful office space with probably the best view in Copenhagen
???? Pension and private health insurance
A chance to work with the latest tools and technology
Opportunities for individual growth with development talks as well as workshops, books and courses
Daily, healthy organic breakfast and lunch prepared by our professional chefs in-house
Social activities, including game nights, book club, Friday bar and more
Free Danish lessons with our in-house Danish teacher
