As a Design Assistant, you'll play a vital role in executing the technical aspects of our collections, transforming design visions into detailed tech packs and technical drawings that ensure seamless product development. This role requires strong technical skills, a sharp eye for detail and the ability to keep everything organized and structured.
Role Overview
As a Design Assistant, your primary responsibility will be to support the design team with the creation and management of tech packs, product documentation and line plans. You'll work closely with the design team to ensure all specifications are accurate, structured and ready for production.
It is essential that you have a keen interest in technical apparel and a willingness to learn through hands-on experience. As part of our small and dynamic team, you will be expected to take on a variety of tasks, from assisting in design and production processes to handling day-to-day errands and office duties.
This role offers a unique opportunity to gain comprehensive experience across different functions and grow within the company. Flexibility and a proactive, can-do attitude are crucial for success in this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and update tech packs and BOM's, ensuring all specifications and details are accurate.
- Develop detailed technical drawings and line plans in Adobe Illustrator.
- Maintain and ensure all product documentation is structured, up to date, and organized in internal systems.
- Support the design team with collection development, line plans, color cards and presentation materials.
- Ensure all technical aspects align with SAYSKY's quality, functionality and brand standards.
- Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and technologies to recommend ideas that align with the design direction.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in a similar role within apparel or product development.
- Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and experience in creating tech packs.
- Strong understanding of garment construction, technical specifications and production processes.
- Highly structured and detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills in both written and spoken English.
- A proactive and solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to ensure smooth collaboration between internal stakeholders.
- Flexibility to scale work efforts based on seasonal sales and design cycles.
- Passionate about sports and performance apparel, with an interest in Scandinavian design principles.
