Passionate about fostering creativity and learning in children? Enthusiastic about Mould Design and Moulding Processes?

Combine these and craft the future at LEGO's External Mould Factory (EMF)

Core Responsibilities
In this role, you will encourage a positive culture of improvement in mould design (MD), focusing on analyses, collaboration, and LEAN practices. More specifically, you will:

  • Complete mould design review in collaboration with local and global partners with emphasis on predicting element and moulding process behavior (shrinkage, warpage i.e.).
  • Data analysis identifying patterns and behaviors of mould features (melt flow, cooling, gate size i.e.).
  • Represent EMF MD and participate in partner concerns debating and aligning on moulding process parameters impacting shrinkage factors in the cavity.
  • Ensure findings from design errors related to shrinkage and warpage are documented and shared with partners.
  • Participate to pursue and ensure learning possibilities from the experiences in process.
  • Ensure that contractors have the right capabilities and means to deliver constructions according to standards.
  • Participate in ensuring mould design and moulding processes consider cost and improve quality.
  • Contribute to the development of standards for future moulds based on the LEGO Group strategy.
  • Provide input for improving and developing the design of base mould designs in our CAD system (Siemens NX).
  • 3D/2D review approver on mould designs for external platforms.
  • Accountable for specific deliveries and quality for mould designs on the external platform, ensuring that the scope for the single mould design solution is carried out.

Play your part in our team succeeding
EMF Mould Design has the responsibility of delivering mould specifications for both novelty and reorder moulds manufactured externally (suppliers located all over the world). This means that EMF MD is creating 250+ mould designs throughout the year.

To control this number of specifications and data we use Siemens NX CAD system together with Teamcenter (PLM) and Classifications (standard library). This position requires a moulding and materials process specialist with experience in mould design and the ability to analyze mould design related problems and support the creation of good technical solutions in a collaborative way.

Do you have what it takes?
The ideal candidate for this role is an individual adept at communication and partner management. Excelling in collaboration with remote teams, with a deep insight in data collection and analysis , you can dissect element and mould design challenges and devise effective technical solutions. Your deep understanding of LEGO building elements' requirements —encompassing look, feel, and functionality—ensures partners meet the highest standards. Additionally, motivated by working within LEAN principles, continuously seeking to improve processes and efficiency, you bring:

  • Proven experience in plastic injection mould design and/or mould process optimization.
  • Experience/knowledge of toolmaking processes.
  • Knowledge of moulding processes and plastic materials in general.
  • Sound knowledge and experience with CAD systems and 3D design (preferably NX), Microsoft Office, and SAP.
  • Knowledge of simulation tools (CAE a.m.).

Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis. However, please note we do amend or withdraw our jobs and reserve the right to do so at any time, including prior to any advertised closing date. So, if you're interested in this role we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
