As a Grid Specialist / Grid Analyst, you will be responsible for analyzing, modelling, and optimizing power grid performance, ensuring its stability, efficiency, and sustainability. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess grid reliability, identify potential risks, and recommend improvements. Your expertise in grid operations will help drive the adoption of smart grid technologies, improve energy distribution, and facilitate the integration of renewable energy sources into the grid.

Key responsibilities:
  • Grid Modelling & Analysis: Develop and maintain models to simulate grid behaviour under different operating conditions and scenarios. Perform system analysis to assess grid stability, power flow, and reliability.
  • Data Monitoring & Reporting: Monitor real-time grid data, assess performance metrics, and provide regular reports on grid health and operational efficiency. Utilize SCADA systems, grid management software, and other analytical tools.
  • Grid Optimization: Work on optimization strategies to enhance power distribution, minimize downtime, and improve grid reliability. Recommend and implement solutions to reduce congestion, losses, and inefficiencies.
  • Renewable Integration: Support efforts to integrate renewable energy sources (solar, wind, etc.) into the grid, addressing intermittency and variability challenges.
  • Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Identify potential risks to grid operations, such as equipment failure or load imbalances, and provide actionable solutions to mitigate these risks.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with engineers, planners, and stakeholders to ensure alignment on grid strategies, projects, and ongoing maintenance requirements.
  • Compliance & Standards: Ensure grid operations meet regulatory standards, industry best practices, and safety guidelines.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, Grid Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in grid analysis, power systems engineering, or related roles within the energy industry.
Technical Skills:
  • Proficient in grid modelling and analysis tools (e.g., PSS/E, DIgSILENT, PowerWorld, PSCAD).
  • Experience with SCADA, EMS (Energy Management Systems), and other grid management software.
  • Strong understanding of power system operations, power flow, fault analysis, and stability.
  • Familiarity with renewable energy integration and grid modernization technologies (smart grids, energy storage, demand response).
