You should apply for the position with us – Copenhagen Merchants Group – if you are passionate about Financial Controlling and will thrive in a family-owned company that, in addition to recently having introduced a unique digital trading platform for commodities, operates in a dynamic international business environment within physical commodities (grains, corn, biomass, etc.), brokerage, trading, shipping, logistics, production, etc.
Your tasks
You will be involved in both classic and challenging Financial Controller tasks:
- Compile budgets, monthly reports (including forecasts).
- Prepare Group consolidated figures for our monthly reporting to owners, boards of directors, and business leads.
- Assist with the annual report in compliance with Danish GAAP, ESG requirements, and potential migration to IFRS.
- Improve budget/forecast process (improve efficiency and presentation, increased use of KPIs, reduce overall time to market, ensure cohesive numbers at the group level and sub-structures, etc.).
- Monitor, identify, and understand deviations within our consolidated accounts.
- Further enhance our use of our financial reporting tool (Konsolidator) and integration with the underlying ERP platforms (D365FO, NAV, BC).
- Assist with improving upstream processes.
- Conduct ad hoc financial analyses, forecasts, etc.

What you become a part of
In addition to a uniquely flat hierarchical organization with a special corporate culture (having the octopus TW Heart as the 'culture ambassador'), you become part of a 10-person finance team located at the group's headquarters in Nordhavn. At the headquarters, you will have 60 colleagues associated with several of the group's many subsidiaries. You will sit in a modern designed and exclusively renovated warehouse, with a view of the opera and the Mast Crane on Holmen, and if you use public transportation, both Nordhavn S-train station and Orientkaj Metro station are within walking distance of the office. You will report to Kenn, who, with a background as an auditor, has been the Finance Manager since February 2020.
What has shaped you up to where you are today?
You are likely already working as a Financial Controller and have a relevant education in accounting or economics. We won't hide that it's an advantage if you have experience from an international company engaged in trade/trading, transport, or shipping. You are fluent in Danish and English in writing and speech and have a natural flair for IT & data.
What are the downsides?
Of course, we find it a bit difficult to see the downsides. But we know that for some, working in an open office environment may not be ideal. If you live outside Greater Copenhagen and are inconveniently located to the S-train/metro network, transportation to the office might be a challenge. And if you have a strong need to always know your workday when you start, Copenhagen Merchants might not be the right place. But otherwise, we don't see many downsides...
