Centre Administrator of the Social Resilience Lab, School of Culture and Society, Aarhus University

The Social Resilience Lab and the School of Culture and Society at Aarhus University invite applications for the position as center administrator for the Social Resilience Lab. It is a full-time administrative position (AC-TAP, Fuldmægtig) available from 1 January 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position reports to the Head of Secretariat, but on a daily basis, your closest supervisor will be Tom Brughmans, one of the PIs of the Social Resilience Lab.

The position

We are seeking a candidate, who will collaborate with the PIs and staff of the Social Resilience Lab and the wider administrative team at the School of Culture and Society to:

  • Facilitate the administration of the centre with regard to staff onboarding, project management and continuous support.
  • Implement and support staff in the transition to the software management tools and pipelines used by the center.
  • Undertake the role of an anchor-person for the coordination of events and projects, ranging in size and duration, including management of budgets (in collaboration with accountancy and PIs), handling practical aspects of the organisation of different types of events (academic and others) as well as coordination around scientific and budget reports to funding bodies.
  • Maintain the content of the website of the center and disseminate project events and activities on social media, mailing lists and newsletters. Coordinate and monitor the compliance with reporting requirements by the centre members for funding bodies, Pure, project reporting, etc.
  • Facilitate research staff and PIs, including assistance with travel administration, social activities, support funding application preparation, center-led events and cultural adjustment for foreign members of the centre.
  • Actively coordinate and align administrative tasks with the wider administrative team at the Centre for Humanities Computing and the School of Culture and Society.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a BA or MA degree in a relevant field, such as management; or equivalent experience.
  • Be proficient in Danish and English.
  • Have a minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar position involving supporting academic project management.
  • Be familiar with university organization and mode of work.
  • Have experience with networking across research environments and institutions.
  • Have experience with website maintenance and good IT qualifications.
  • Have experience with organizing events such as workshops and conferences.
  • Be comfortable with managing a varied and unpredictable portfolio of assignments/tasks, sometimes with short deadlines.
  • Be able to communicate clearly and navigate through possible sensitivities across a culturally, linguistically and academically diverse team.
  • Understand the value of candour, constructive feedback and setting boundaries while also finding fun in everyday tasks.
  • Be willing and actively contribute to the creation of a new academic working environment that places people over product, and allows all its members to thrive.

The work environment

This position will be based in the newly established Social Resilience Lab - a fresh and dynamic research group whose aim is to leverage historical and archaeological data to explore the sources of resilience across a vast range of past and present societies against stresses (such as climate change) and shocks (e.g. natural catastrophes).
