Materials Scientists for Polymeric- and Raw Materials
Category: Manufacturing
Location: Bagsværd, Capital Region of Denmark, DK
Do you have a passion for polymers, knowledge of material applications, or experience with raw materials for pharmaceutical applications? Do you want to take on responsibility for essential raw material processes for Novo Nordisk production worldwide? Is finding creative solutions while balancing both compliance and collaboration a natural part of the way you work?
We are growing and have several open opportunities - both permanent and temporary (18-month parental covers) across RAW – Material MSAT (Manufacturing, Science and Technology).
The Position
As a Material Scientist in RAW - Material MSAT you will have the scientific responsibility for supporting Novo Nordisk production lines and stakeholders, by securing high-quality materials, thereby helping millions of patients around the world.
We are looking for different profiles with interest and/or expertise within one of the following tracks:
- Excipients, our most regulated material group, supporting both implementation of new supply chains and life cycle management of existing materials.
- Preexisting knowledge of pharmacopeia would be an advantage.
- Life cycle management, operational support, and process optimization for raw materials.
- Process aids and polymeric single-use systems (SUS, systems composed of connectors, sterile filters, bags, hoses, etc.) used in our filling facilities. An area with steep increase in demand and complexity across Novo Nordisk.
For all roles, the primary tasks include:
- Ensuring the right control strategy for the materials by assessing the manufacture and handling of the material that could affect its use in Novo Nordisk.
- Active scientific evaluation of critical cases.
- Competent representation in technical and scientific discussions in projects across the organization.
As a team member, you are always backed and supported by the team, both as you proactively take on responsibilities and when you drive your own development. We pride ourselves on our strong onboarding culture and promise to set you up for success in the role when you bring the drive and energy.
We are office-based and currently situated in Bagsværd and will be relocating to Taastrup in January 2026.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate for this position:
- Has a scientific background in engineering, biology, chemistry, or similar at master level or above.
- Has experience with handling and GMP control of raw materials.
- Is proficient in both spoken and written English.
- Has strong technical and analytical skills and can use those actively.
We are looking for a team player who:
- Thrives in close cooperation with colleagues and stakeholders across functions and departments.
- Is motivated by finding robust solutions that ensure the correct quality level.
- Has a 'continuous improvement' mindset and seeks both short- and long-term improvements.
- Takes pride in delivering on milestones and has a positive and proactive approach to challenges.
About the Department
You will join the RAW department within Material MSAT, Sourcing Operations in Product Supply. We are five teams: Raw Material Supply Chains, RAW Processes, Raw Material specifications, Excipients, and Process aids & SUS, and together we are responsible for the development, implementation, and management of complex materials (raw materials, excipients, process aids, and Single Use Systems) used in production, and we maintain documentation on existing materials.
We cooperate extensively with a broad variety of functions, including Chemistry Manufacturing and Control, QC laboratories, QA, inbound supply, warehouse, various Novo Nordisk production sites, and a range of external suppliers and contract manufacturers.
