Codan Marine & Energy will transfer to Norwegian Marine Insurer Gard from March 1st , 2025. Gard will establish a new office in Denmark and welcome around 50 experienced M&E insurance specialists to its global organization. This position will be part of the new Gard Denmark with offices in both Copenhagen and Aarhus.

About the Job

Your primary responsibility is to handle large and complex global claims within offshore and onshore energy. Most of the claims will be related to offshore and onshore wind turbines, but the department also handles claims related to other forms of energy such as power plants and solar panel installations.

An important part of being a Senior Claims Handler is stakeholder management. You will engage in dialogue with important clients and must ensure friendly and timely dialogue with a focus on high customer satisfaction. You will also collaborate with policy holders, other professionals, insurers, loss adjusters, brokers, solicitors, and third parties, and therefore excellent communication skills are key to succeed.

Your primary responsibilities

  1. Processing claims and making optimal decisions within the given authority and following established standards and procedures.
  2. Sharing claims information with internal stakeholders to ensure timely and transparent communication within the organization.
  3. Contributing to the profitability of the portfolio by providing relevant claims experience to the underwriting departments.
  4. Managing and organizing approved vendors for claims investigation, repair, and delivery of customer service.
  5. Contributing to the development of the team to maintain the high standard and expertise for claims handling in renewable energy extraction.
  6. Collaborating on claims audits to ensure the maintenance of an effective control environment.
  7. Providing proactive advice on the development of new and improved policy formulations to ensure that policy documentation reflects lessons learned from experienced claims and agreed risk profiles.

About you

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in legal or law and experience in handling large claims. The ideal candidate has:

  1. A master's degree such as cand.jur. or cand.merc.jur.
  2. 3-5 years of experience in global claims handling, preferably within the energy and marine insurance industry.
  3. Experience in handling complex, case-based claims.
  4. Strong experience in developing and executing project plans.
  5. Experience with the demands of writing internal and external reports.
  6. Experience with governance, including rules such as licenses, reserve setting, and large payments.

Your stakeholder management skills are essential, and you can communicate effectively. You are a team player who can also work independently, maintaining a positive attitude by looking for opportunities rather than obstacles. You take responsibility and ownership of your tasks. Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is essential, and proficiency in Danish is an advantage but not a requirement.
