Vestas Technology & Operations > Research & Development (R&D) > Converter Control Application
Our Converter Control Application team is essential in securing Vestas' position as a global leader in sustainable energy. We develop and implement converter control functionalities across all Vestas turbine families. We're a collaborative, diverse, and highly skilled team, balancing creativity with technical excellence to develop leading converter solutions.
Responsibilities
- Guide and oversee the development and implementation of Grid-Forming (GFM) Control Technology
- Define converter requirements and oversee control software development, testing, and validation
- Contribute to the improvement and updates of existing converter control software based on real-world turbine feedback and customer requirements
- Be responsible for technical tasks and solutions in cross-functional projects
- Collaborate with internal teams to promote innovation and continuous improvement in converter control
Qualifications
- Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related field coupled with 8+ years of experience in power converter development, control design, and implementation
- Deep understanding of Grid-Forming Control and power converter control strategies
- Solid knowledge of dynamic system modelling, controller design, and verification through simulations and tests
- Practical experience with control of power electronics, PWM strategies, and industrial software development
- Familiarity with grid connection of converters and compliance with international grid codes
- Embedded control development for power electronics
- Autonomous and initiative-based approach to learning and problem-solving
- Solid analytical and debugging abilities
- Ability to guide and mentor team members while ensuring high-quality technical deliverables
- Efficient communication and collaboration skills across teams

The primary work location will be in Aarhus, Denmark or Porto, Portugal.
