Join our diverse, motivated team at DTU Biosustain We seek data engineers to support our Research Data Management Team. You'll help delevop and maintain vital data infrastructure, contributing to groundbreaking research.
If you are a skilled and talented data engineer with experience in cloud infrastructure, and you are looking to make a difference working on projects that will have impact on world level challenges, this position is tailored to you

Your work will be an essential part of multiple initiatives towards the development of new environmentally friendly products, cleaner and more sustainable manufacturing and farming processes, new medical treatments, and richer biodiversity and ecosystems. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing new analytical and machine learning tools that will help to interpret complex multimodal data, and you will do it in collaboration with top research scientist in the field and in an international, motivating, flexible, supportive, and friendly environment at a leading research and education institution in Europe.

The job
You will be engaged in a variety of tasks including, but not limited to:

  • Design, build, and maintain data pipelines
  • Develop and optimize ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) processes, and ensure data integrity
  • Collaborate with the Data Science team and researchers to understand their requirements and translate these into a technical specification and model design
  • Maintenance for our Azure datalake infrastructure
  • Providing support for our Azure cloud users
  • Monitor and promote best practices for Azure resource usage
  • Documenting infrastructure-related solutions and guidelines
  • Teach Azure-related courses to our researchers in the CFB

Our expectations of you
We hope that you have several of the following qualifications and willingness to learn more as you go:

  • A Master's or PhD degree within Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar
  • Some years of relevant work experience
  • Expertise in cloud environments (we use Microsoft Azure)
  • Good working knowledge of Python, Jira, Docker, Git, and GitHub.
  • Database programming (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL)
  • Experience with agile project management.
  • Familiarity with workflow management systems (we use Nextflow)
  • Curious, proactive, motivated and able to work independently

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations or other relevant collective agreement. The salary will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
