Copenhagen, Copenhagen, Denmark Københavns Universitet Full time
Postdoc in Immunology at Department of Microbiology and Immunology (ISIM)

We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic postdoc for a minimum two-year position starting from 1 January, 2025.

The postdoc will be dedicated to understanding allergic immunity at a fundamental level.

Our research
The Allergic Inflammation group at the Leo Foundation Skin Immunology Research Centre within ISIM is led by Jonathan Coquet. Our interests revolve around understanding the fundamentals of allergic inflammation. Core questions for our group include: What makes inflammatory allergic responses pathogenic? What are triggers for allergic inflammation? How do environmental and genetic factors combine to mediate allergy? To explore these questions, we utilise mouse models of allergy and infection and combine them with understanding allergic inflammation in human tissues. The team is diverse and participates in interdisciplinary work with national and international collaborators.

Your job
You should be a critical thinker and be able to drive experiments and projects forward with a great degree of independence. You should also be adept in working in team environments. Specific scientific expertise in the following areas would be highly recommended: mouse models of disease, fluorescence microscopy, multiparameter flow cytometry, tissue histology, and general wet lab techniques used in the field of immunology. You would be required to execute all/most of these aforementioned tasks during the course of this project. You should be able to demonstrate an ability to complete projects and present your work to an audience through conference participation and other avenues.

Profile
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following competencies and experience:

Essential experience and skills:

  • You have a PhD in Immunology
  • You are highly experienced in microscopy, flow cytometry, histology, mouse handling
  • Proficient communication skills and ability to work in teams
  • Excellent English skills written and spoken

Desirable experience and skills:

  • Understanding of lung and skin organ biology
  • Understanding of inflammation and the role of adaptive and immune cells

Place of employment
The place of employment is at the Leo Foundation Skin Immunology Research Centre, situated in the Maersk Tower, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in a dynamic and international research environment. Our research centre includes modern laboratories and access to core microscopy and flow cytometry facilities that are world-class. We are situated in close proximity with other research centres, providing a vibrant and multidisciplinary work environment.

Terms of employment
