Copenhagen, Copenhagen, Denmark Podimo Full time

We are one of the fastest growing podcast & audiobook platforms in Europe and we are now looking for an ambitious Data Engineer to join us and play a key role in enabling the technical platform for our work with data and analytics.

Come and join us on our journey to enrich lives through listening.

This is the role

At Podimo, data is at the center of nearly everything we do; guiding decisions and fueling our business processes. This is where you come in

In this position, you will join our BI & Analytics Engineering team, which is part of our global Data department. The team is responsible for our company-wide data platform and works to enable data-driven decision-making and operations across the organisation.

You will be collaborating with data/analytics engineers, analysts, and business teams, and will be responsible for ensuring a solid technical platform for our work with BI and analytics, and that data and insights are activated across relevant tools.

Our team offers a casual atmosphere with excellent opportunities for growth and impact, and you will in this position get the chance to take part in shaping and developing Podimo's data engineering and business intelligence efforts.

While the role eventually will encompass projects supporting the broader organisation, the initial key responsibility will be to strengthen and take ownership of the data integration with our CRM system, Braze. This involves ensuring a seamless flow of relevant data into the system, enabling the Global CRM team to be even more data-driven in their work.

Your main responsibilities are:

  • Build and maintain robust, compliant and scalable storage and data pipeline solutions to form the data foundation for BI and analytics
  • Design, develop and maintain pipelines to deliver curated data and insights from our internal data platform to external systems (via APIs or other integrations)
  • Collaborate closely with members of the Data department, including analytics engineers, data analysts, and scientists, to understand their needs and meet these with high quality solutions, driving efficiencies in their work
  • Create and maintain data platform infrastructure, adhering to best practices
  • Take ownership of workflow orchestration, including scheduling, coordination, and monitoring of data processes
  • Collaborate with relevant engineering squads across the Tech department to optimize infrastructure, align practices, and coordinate data source changes
  • Work to optimize infrastructure and processes for performance and cost efficiency
  • Develop and maintain architecture and systems documentation
This is you

We are looking for a colleague who is motivated by and takes great pride in building and maintaining innovative and reliable data solutions. You understand the concepts of working in a dynamic and fast-paced startup environment, and you thrive in collaborating cross-functionally with your colleagues across the company.

In more detail, you will thrive in this role if you have:
  • 2-3 years of experience of a similar role in a fast-growing company
  • Proficiency in one or more scripting languages, such as Python (preferred) or JavaScript, for building data pipelines and automation
  • Hands-on experience with batch, streaming, and event-driven data setups, as well as workload orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Spark, Beam)
  • Proficiency in working with APIs, including ability to write and maintain stable services for interacting with various APIs to fetch or push data
  • Experience managing platform infrastructure on a cloud provider (Google Cloud preferred), including building data pipelines, monitoring systems, applying CI/CD practices, and using IaC tools like Terraform or Pulumi for automation
  • Prior hands-on experience with data platforms such as Google BigQuery or Snowflake
  • Experience implementing data governance and compliance best practices
  • Solid SQL skills and foundational understanding of data warehousing principles
  • A collaborative mindset and a passion for teamwork, continuous improvement, and learning, combined with the ability to work highly independently while ensuring alignment with team goals
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal), with the ability to articulate complex data concepts clearly and effectively to diverse audiences

Naturally, being passionate about podcasts, audio content, and entertainment is a big plus

These are the benefits
  • ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) for all employees, no matter where in the world you live.
  • Learning and personal development opportunities to help you thrive and enrich your skills in a fast-paced creator economy.
  • Up to six months of fully paid parental leave for all new parents - no matter how you identify or where in the world you live
  • Free online therapy sessions through We.Care.
  • Delicious lunch with great colleagues.
  • Unlimited child sick days and the opportunity to work flexible hours and remotely.
  • Opportunity to make an impact at a growing international company and see your work pay off immediately.
This is the hiring process

Please share your CV or LinkedIn profile. We'd love to hear why you're interested in the job, but it's not a must. If we move forward with your application, here's what to expect:

  • An initial conversation with a recruiter to set expectations
  • A case conversation with the hiring manager, Martin Otto-Sidelmann, Director of BI & Analytics Engineering
  • A coffee chat with some of your potential future team members

We might tweak the process to keep things smooth and enjoyable. We'll be conducting interviews continuously, aiming for a start date around March or asap after that date.

Can't wait to hear from you
