DHI A/S is searching for an Electronic Technician to support our many on-going projects and contribute to continuous improvement of our online monitoring stations.

About the role
You will become part of a collaborative team of 11 dedicated and highly skilled colleagues, including other electrical engineers/technicians and a variety of other engineers and scientists.

One of our main clients is the Femernbelt Tunnel project, where we have 16 stations monitoring water quality, meteorology, and waves/currents. As a significant part of the job, you will feed into the team which maintain, build and configure these stations transmitting data 24/7 to our online public access environmental portal ÆGIR: ÆGIR - Live data observations (femern.com)

Our current survey activities include:

  • Construction, deployment and operation of hydrographic and oceanographic monitoring buoys and measurement stations with real-time data acquisition
  • Environmental surveys of seabed flora and fauna (e.g., eelgrass mapping), bathymetric and coastal topographic surveys
  • Operation of survey vessels, ROVs, AUVs and drones for monitoring purposes

The survey group operates worldwide, but mostly concentrates on Northern European waters. Typical clients are offshore wind farms, dredging companies and major infrastructure developers.

Our work helps clients operate in an environmentally friendly manner, report their environmental impact to authorities, and implement measures to reduce or offset their environmental footprint. Our solutions are usually tailored to the client’s needs, which result in a great degree of innovation at the start of each project.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, building, deploying, and operating online hydrographic and oceanographic monitoring systems.
  • Troubleshooting hardware, down to component level, on measurement systems both from DHI workshop/office and on site.
  • Contact with suppliers of instruments and material and service providers.

Skills and Qualifications
Required

  • Electronics technician (elektronik fagtekniker) or alternatively Electronic Engineer B.Sc.
  • Basic mechanical skills
  • Able to occasionally problem solve under pressure.
  • Contributes to good cooperation in the team and knowledge-sharing
  • Flexible with regards to traveling (typically 1-3 days duration) on few days notice, the job will consist of 10-20% fieldwork
  • Ability to obtain and maintain STCW certificates (medical certificate, survival at sea, first aid, etc.)
  • Be comfortable with working on vessels at sea

Desirable

  • +2 years of experience, applications from recent graduates are welcome as well
  • Some programming knowledge (we use Matlab, Python, Visual Basic in that order)
  • Familiar with marine survey operations and monitoring techniques
  • Fluency in Danish, German and/or other Northern European languages
  • Experience in the use and/or maintenance of ADCP’s, CTD’s, wave buoys or other water quality instruments
