Most plastics found in the marine environment in Europe and elsewhere are carried there by rivers, and we humans put plastics in there. So, it's on all of us to solve the problem. Here GreenKayak comes into play.
About GreenKayak
GreenKayak is an environmental NGO that engages volunteers in the fight against environmental pollution while kayaking. We invite everyone to jump aboard a GreenKayak and paddle for free under two simple conditions - spend your time collecting waste on the water and share your social media experience using #GreenKayak.
We strive to engage as many people as possible in the fight against ocean pollution and free local aquatic environments from plastics and other waste. We aim to enable everyone to take local action for the environment by building a global network of GreenKayaks, sharing knowledge, and bringing environmental responsibility into people's everyday lives.
We work with volunteers in Denmark and internationally and collaborate with partners from the public and private sectors.

About the role
As our Communications Specialist , you'll play a key role in spreading awareness about GreenKayak's mission. Your focus will be on social media and newsletters , while also contributing to PR and press-related tasks.
Responsibilities
- Social Media Management – Plan, create, and publish engaging content across platforms.
- Community Engagement – Foster online interactions and maintain a strong digital presence.
- Newsletter & PR – Craft compelling newsletters and assist with press outreach.
- Campaign Execution – Support marketing initiatives and partner collaborations.
- Performance Tracking – Analyze social media data to optimize strategy.
Qualifications
- Education & Experience: A degree (or ongoing studies) in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field, combined with experience in communications, social media, or PR.
- Language Skills : Strong writing and communication skills in Danish (minimum B1 level) and English (full professional proficiency).
- Content Creation & Strategy: Demonstrable experience in developing and executing successful social media and communication strategies, with the ability to craft compelling and engaging content.
- Social Media Expertise : Proficiency in social media management tools and analytics platforms, with a strong understanding of current trends and best practices.
- Analytical & Data-Driven Mindset : Ability to analyze performance metrics and optimize content based on insights.
- Creativity & Initiative: A creative and innovative thinker who proactively brings new ideas to the table and takes initiative without needing constant direction.
- Work Approach : Self-driven and independent, but also a strong collaborator who thrives in a team environment.
Working hours
15 hours per week, spread across three fixed days. We offer some flexibility to accommodate personal commitments, and before the start of employment, we will agree on a structure that fits both you and the team.
Location : Copenhagen (hybrid – 2 office days, 1 remote day per week).
