Our research
Our team aims to understand how ribosome specialization leads to the instalment of translational programs and how these processes are hijacked in human disease. Due to the central role of the ribosome in many biological processes, we use a broad panel of model systems, including human stem cells, neuronal cultures, and 2D and 3D cultures of human cells and patient samples.

Your job
You will join the Lund Group focusing on ribosome heterogeneity and specialized translation. You will undertake a leading research role in local translation with a particular focus on ribosome heterogeneity and mRNA localization in neurons. Thus, it is essential that the candidate has previous research experience in aspects related to ribosome and RNA biology as well as in culturing neurons. You will be involved in developing local and international collaborations and multidisciplinary research projects. You will also engage in core centre activities such as research-based teaching and technology development to advance BRIC's research environment and culture.
Responsibilities
The assistant professor's responsibilities will primarily consist of:
- Research, including publication/academic dissemination duties
- Research-based teaching
- Sharing knowledge with society
- Participation in formal pedagogical training programme for assistant professors
- Lead and engage in collaborative research program investigating aspects of local translation
- Contribute to common activities at BRIC and at Faculty level
Profile
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following skills and experience:
Essential experience and skills:
- You have a PhD in molecular biology/biochemistry
- Prior experience in RNA biology and RNA modifications
- Prior experience in working with human embryonic stem cells and neuronal differentiation
- Prior experience in fluorescence and confocal microscopy
- Strong experimental and computational skills in transcriptomics and proteomics
Place of employment
The place of employment is at the Biotech Research and Innovation Centre, University of Copenhagen ( ). We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in a dynamic and international research environment.
Terms of employment
The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week. The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of 3 years. The start date is July 1st, 2025.
Salary, pension and other conditions of employment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant organisation. Currently, the monthly salary starts at 38,700 DKK/approx. 5,100 EUR (October 2021 level). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.
Foreign and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark in the last 10 years.
The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2020.
