Logistics Delegate

København, Denmark Røde Kors Full time

As a Logistics Delegate, your function is to effectively manage the arrival of large amounts of relief goods, either flown in by air or trucked and shipped in, the clearance of these goods, their storage, and subsequent forwarding to distribution points. The Logistics Delegate also supports other Red Cross Emergency Response Units in the reception of their cargo, which often includes heavy cargo. The Logistics Delegate might be tasked to carry out procurement primarily of transportation, services, and minor equipment. The Logistics Delegate is responsible for reporting on all items received and their movement according to Red Cross procedures.

The Logistics Delegate in a team setup is likely to focus on one specific area of logistics such as warehousing, air operation management including customs clearance, transport management, supply chain administration including systems, or team lead. In deployments as individuals, the Logistics Delegate must be able to cover all or most areas in cooperation with the local Red Cross or Red Crescent National Society.

For larger scale operations, the team normally consists of:

  1. Team Leader
  2. Supply Chain Administration Delegate (SCAD)
  3. Air Operations Delegate
  4. Warehouse/Transport Delegate

The combination and size of the team will be decided based on operational needs and requests. The team might consist of different nationalities as a joint deployment between several National Societies.

Danish Red Cross invests heavily in the training of new delegates. It is important that if deployed, members are well prepared and trained to go into disaster zones. Much of your first year as a roster member will be in training. It will not be until after successful completion of all training that you will be ready to go on call. We recognize that it is a big undertaking and commitment for candidates to undertake the training in its entirety. Given the investment made in individuals, we ask that candidates are confident that they can commit to the required training before commencing on their learning pathway. All roster candidates need to undergo a series of E-learning and week-long face-to-face courses which are unpaid.

To be part of our Disaster Response Roster, you need to live in Denmark or have a Danish passport.

To be a member of a Disaster Response Roster is not a full-time position, and our members normally hold a regular job whereby they have a flexible agreement with their employer to release them without pay for the duration of a deployment with Danish Red Cross. When deployed with Danish Red Cross, you will be contracted and paid during deployment. A normal deployment is between 1-3 months, depending on needs and availability of roster members.

To be a Logistics Delegate, you must confirm the following essential criteria:

  • That you are experienced in organizing international transports
  • That you are experienced in supply chain management
  • That you have a minimum of 5 years’ experience within the field of Logistics
  • That you are fluent in English

We interview candidates on an ongoing basis based on our need for enrolling more candidates to the roster.

Questions regarding the disaster response roster, possibilities, or practical issues can be directed to Logistics Coordinator Benjamin Andersen at

We are looking forward to receiving your application.
